RAJOURI DECEMBER 20:– Despite the constitution of high power committees, headed by the Superintending Engineer (SE), Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), and Executive Engineer, JPDCL Rajouri and supported by the trained personnel of MES, the electricity could be restored only in about 15% areas in and around district HQs at Rajouri.
When contacted Sandeep Seth, SE, JPDCL straightway said: “Facing multiple problems in the restoration of power supplies in the absence of manpower (employees who are on indefinite strike)”.
The Power Department employees are on indefinite strike in favour of their demands.
The men in olive green uniforms finding difficult to trace the faults reportedly caused by the employees before heading for a strike.
“For the last more than 48 hours army personnel continuing their efforts to restore power supply in more than 80% areas and for that, they are in continuous touch with the engineers of different companies to remove the defects,” said sources.
Another senior officer of the Power department was of the view that due to many problems the army personnel will face difficulties in restoring the power on the entire feeders.
At present, there are about 112 feeders of 11KV line and at present, about 15% are working and the people suffering a lot in the absence of power for the last more than three days.
Inhabitants of Manjakot, Kotranka, and in some parts of Sunderbani, Kalakot, Nowshera, and Rajouri tehsils are facing complete shutdown of the power.
While addressing the people of Union Territory of J&K on Monday, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said: “Hundred percent power supplies will be restored by tomorrow (Tuesday)”.
White Knight Corps in a Tweet said: “Indian Army restores electricity in Rajouri & Poonch. To ensure uninterrupted power supply to population of Rajouri & Poonch districts in the chilling winter, Indian Army restored the disrupted electricity services due to the ongoing strike of govt employees”.
It will be clear by tomorrow evening in how many areas the electricity was restored.
Electricity crises continue to hit Rajouri people despite claims of power restoration.
