Jammu :– A week long educational awareness programme was conducted by Global Peace Foundation to spread the awareness among people especially the poor and inaccessible areas where the drop out rate is high or children aren’t attending the school at all. The foundation organised the week long educational awareness week in slum colony Channi Rama Jammu where more than 90 kids were identified who have never attended the school belonging to different age groups.
The parents of these kids belongs to poor families who can’t afford to send their wards to school due to poorty , inaccessibility to school, transport and other related issues. The volunteers of the foundation conducted the fun classes and learning sessions with these kids following the pendemic protocol.
The kids and their parents were made aware about the importance of education, personal hygiene and also made aware to reach school for which different government schemes are prevalent for poor and downtrodden classes including free education and food.
The foundation furthered the slogan of Directorate of School Education “Aao School Chalein” in the week long educational workshop.
During the week kids were engaged in fun learning activities, games craft and other literal activities.
On the concluding day a special programme was held to check the response and interest of the children which was highly satisfactory and responsive, said one of the volunteer of the foundation. They said that that foundation will keep on organising such programs in future too and approach the Directorate of School Education department to arrange a mobile teacher for these slum kids.
During the week long programme, cooked food, books, bags and stationary was distributed among the kids apart from warm clothes and hygiene kits.
