DR. ZAHEER ABBAS MIR, ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF BGSBU TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION

With the pandemic entering a new phase, the Baba Ghulam Badshah University, Teachers’ Association (BUTA) elected their President and the Executive Committee for the next one year. Dr Zaheer Abbas, Head Department of Mathematical Sciences, a renowned Mathematician of Peer Panchal Region, won election of President of Teacher Association of Baba Ghulam Badshah University, with a huge margin, for which elections held today in the University. Out of 117 total polled votes Dr Zaheer got 69 and his rival Mr. Haider Mehraj from SOET got 47 votes.

Dr Mohd Azam from Dept of Arabic is elected as Vice president. He got 62 votes and his nearest rival Dr Nasir Ahmed Rather from SOET got 51 votes.

Dr Tasleem Arif and Mr Nikhil Gupta Head Dept of Info. Tech and Head ITE respectively contested for the post of Gen Secretary, but ended on a tie of 57 votes each.

Mr Vinay Kumar from Dept of Management Studies is elected as Treasurer. He got 70 votes (highest one), whereas his nearest rival Dr Shah Sajjad Haider from Dept of English got 46 votes only.

For the two posts of Joint Secretaries a total of five contestants were in the fray. Out of which the first two winners including Mr. Vishal Sharma Pahari and Mr. Yasir Arafat from SOET were elected as Ist and 2nd Joint secretaries of the Association after getting 69 and 66 votes respectively.

The new committee will deliberate upon various issues related to the betterment and upliftment of University and intend to carry forward — the progress under all sectors in coordination with university administration and further redressal of grievances of Teaching fraternity.
The elections for the post of general Secretary, which ended on tie shall be scheduled in the coming days.
