JAMMU AUGUST 30:– Jammu and Kashmir Border Areas Development Conference (JK-BADC), a registered organization working for the welfare of residents of border areas of J & K has reiterated its demand of setting up Municipal Committee in border town Mendhar of district Poonch for providing better sanitation, enhanced hygienic facilities and planned, controlled and managed construction of Lanes, drains and buildings in the border town.

Dr Shazad Ahmed Malik, Chairman of JK-BADC and former Vice Chancellor of SNU has urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for establishment of Municipal Committee in border town Mendhar because as presently due to uncontrolled and unplanned construction of infrastructure including private, government and commercial buildings in the town the roads, lanes and drains are being encroached upon by rogue elements and there is no check on it.

JKBADC Chairman also cited the problem faced by the Locals and visitors there due to non availability of proper public washroom facilities there in the town. He also highlighted the issue of choked drains and unplanned disposal of solid, liquid and other harmful wastes. He also requested the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board to take cognizance of the issue of unscientific disposal of wastage in the town.

The former VC also requested all the local social activists and all political leaders to join hands and make this demand for establishing Municipal Committee in Mendhar in one Voice.
