SRINAGAR DECM 29:-The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, in collaboration with Kashmir Concern (NGO), on Sunday organised an Awareness Programme and Plantation Drive under the Pan India Environmental Legal Literacy & Community Protection Initiative titled “Protect Today, Secure Tomorrow.” The programme was held at the premises of the District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar.
The event was conducted under the chairmanship of Mr. Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman, DLSA Srinagar and Principal District & Sessions Judge, and under the supervision of Ms. Tabassum Qadir Parray.
The awareness session was enriched by the presence of Dr. Touseef Bhat, Social Environmentalist and Chairman, Kashmir Concern (NGO), who participated as the Resource Person. He sensitised the participants about growing environmental challenges and underscored the importance of sustainable practices, individual responsibility, and community-driven initiatives for environmental conservation. Dr. Bhat also highlighted the legal and social dimensions of environmental protection and urged collective efforts to safeguard natural resources for future generations.
Ms. Zeenat, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC), DLSA Srinagar, also addressed the gathering and apprised participants of the role of Legal Services Authorities in promoting environmental justice and access to legal remedies. She emphasized the effective use of legal aid mechanisms to address environmental grievances and stressed the need for grassroots-level awareness to protect environmental rights.
The programme witnessed active participation from staff members, Legal Aid Defence Counsels, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Srinagar, and volunteers of the collaborating NGO. The event concluded with a plantation drive, reaffirming the collective commitment of all participants towards environmental sustainability and the core objective of protecting the environment today for a secure tomorrow.
