District Rajouri ready for polls in second phase on september 25.745 polling stations were set up, including 540 critical, for 4.92 lakh

RAJOURI SEPT 24:--Rajouri district, having five Assembly Constituencies, is all set for polls in the second phase on September 25.
The campaign period of Election to J&K Legislative Assembly -2024 ended at 6 PM on Monday & the concerned ROs have directed all the campaigners from outside the Assembly constituency to leave the constituency.
Until 2014, district Rajouri contained book four Assembly Elections, Assembly constituencies namely Nowshera, Kalalkote, Rajouri & Darhal.
But after the delimitation proposal a new constituency namely 87-Thanamandi was carved out.
According to details available the district has 4,92,008 registered voters including 2,56,215 males; 2,35,786 females, while 7 belong to third gender.
For smooth & hassle-free polling, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has established 745 polling stations in five assembly constituencies.
There were 680 polling stations during Lok Sabha elections and for Assembly elections 65 new polling stations were added.
Among 5 Assembly Constituencies, newly carved constituency 87-Thanamandi has the highest number of 1,22,744 registered voters comprising 63,417 males & 59,327 females and highest number of 190 polling stations.
83-Kalakote-Thanamandi has 139 polling stations and 97,826 electorate including 51,373 males and 46,452 females.
There are 116 polling stations in 84-Nowshera Assembly Constituency and having 86,608 registered electorate including 44,724 males and 41,879 females.
85- Rajouri constituency is reserved for ST having 89,189 registered voters comprising of 46,32 males & 43,0 54 females while 86-Budhal Assembly Constituency is also ST reserved and having 146 polling stations for 95,641 registered electorate including 63,417 males & 59327 females.
Out of 745 polling stations, sources said 540 polling stations are sensitive and hypersensitive and adequate security arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of polling.
Moreover, out of 745 polling stations 51 polling stations in Nowshera, Rajouri, and Thanamandi Assembly Constituencies are Special Polling Stations (situated along Line of Control.
In case of any firing/shelling from across the LoC, alternative arrangements for polling have been made in the nearby bunkers.
81-Challas polling station in Rajouri constituency is one among 12 polling stations falling within 1 km from LoC and is just 200 meters ahead of LoC.
Out of 51 Special Polling Stations, three are newly set up including Saroola (B), Rajdhani (C), and Thandapani (A), all in Thanamandi constituency.
With an aim to boost voter turn-out and ensure that every electorate can exercise their franchise with ease, 25 model polling stations, including an all women Pink polling station, PwD/Youth manned, Unique, Border PS, and Green polling stations have been established by the district administration.
5 each model polling stations have been set up in all the five constituencies of the district.
District Election Authorities informed that out of 4,92,008 registered electorates of Rajouri district, Voter Information Slips to 4,44,000 have successfully been distributed.
