Dhar Sakri Gastroenteritis Case: DHS Jammu Visits Affected Area; 52 Cases Reported To Date.

**31 discharged from GMC Rajouri, 5 referred to GMC Jammu, 6 Left Against Medical Advice (LAMA), and 1 death was reported in Jammu.

RAJOURI JULY 04:-Three more individuals, including two children, have been reported ill due to gastroenteritis in Dhar Sakri village of Rajouri district. They were admitted to Associated Hospital Government Medical College (AH GMC) Rajouri on Thursday evening.
According to sources, the patients—7-year-old Eliza Kosar, 11-year-old Zarna Begum, and 30-year-old Zainam Kosar—were experiencing vomiting and diarrhea. They initially received treatment at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Koteranka (Kandi) before being referred to GMC Rajouri for advanced medical care. Their condition is currently reported to be stable and improving under medical supervision.
In response to the suspected outbreak of a waterborne disease, the Director of Health Services Jammu (DHSJ), Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, visited Dhar Sakri village to assess the situation. During the visit, he interacted with the affected individuals and engaged with residents to understand the on-ground challenges.
He was accompanied by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri, Dr. M.L. Rana, and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kandi. Dr. Zargar directed the local health authorities to maintain strict surveillance and ensure all necessary steps are taken to contain the spread of the illness.
Later, the Director also visited CHC Kandi, where he inspected various departments of the hospital and spoke to patients in the wards. He reassured them that the Health Department is committed to safeguarding public health and is actively working to manage the situation.
It is noteworthy that over the past 20 days, a total of 52 patients showing minor to major gastroenteritis symptoms have been admitted to AH GMC Rajouri. Out of these:
31 patients have been discharged, 5 were referred to GMC Jammu, where one elderly woman died, 10 patients are currently undergoing treatment, and 6 patients left the hospital Against Medical Advice (LAMA).
