Despite administration’s apposite measures surge in Covid cases continues.

Rajouri May 09:–Number of Covid positive cases in Rajouri district rising with every coming day despite several measures and apposite steps were taken by the district administration during the last 2-3 weeks.
This is evident from the fact that during the last 9 days, 1739 people were tested positive.
It is also, a matter of concern that on March 3 this year there was no positive/active case in the district and out of 3943 tested positive 3887 had tested positive and recovered while 56 died.
“Within about two months there are 2501 active cases in the district till Sunday and 42 persons have lost their lives (total deaths in the district 98) due to Coronavirus and many struggling for life in the Isolation ward at Government Medical College & Associated Hospital Rajouri” said sources.

For effective implementation of Containment & Management measures and to assist the Panchyat Level Committees (PLCs); constituted to help the health officials in tracking, tracing, and testing of the contacts, District Magistrate in a order has deployed Civil Defence /Home Guard volunteers, SDRF personnel,& Ex-servicemen to help PLCs.
Sixty-Six localities across the district have already been declared Micro Containment Zones.
Authorities here at Rajouri have received 4000 Covid Kits and distribution among the positive persons, only for the patients’ in-home isolation, has begun from today.
Till Sunday 6616 persons have been tested positive in Rajouri district out of which 2501 are still active 4018 have recovered while 97 died due to Covid-19.
As far as vaccination is concerned, the Health Department has achieved 65% target and till today out of targeted 1,66,992 beneficiaries 1,08,930 persons have been given first & second doses.
The District Administration has created 515 beds facilities 9 locations to meet any exigency following a huge surge in Covid cases.
150 beds are available in Isolation wards at Associated Hospital & Government Medical College (AH&GMC) Rajouri, 5 each in hospitals at Sunderbani, Kalakot & Nowshera and 350 beds in Covid Care Centers (CCCs) at 5 locations.
Members of civil society have appealed to Lt Governor to end this vicious cycle of death and the concerned authorities should take cognizance of the situation and relieve people from the sufferings.
