RAJOURI, DEC 31:– A meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was convened today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma to discuss strategies for combating drug abuse in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the enforcement measures taken across the sub-divisions, including Koteranka, Sunderbani, Kalakote, Nowshera, and Thanamandi, to identify and take action against drug peddlers. Emphasizing the importance of collective efforts, he directed all stakeholders to intensify measures to curb the drug menace.
The DC highlighted the critical role of public awareness and called for sustained campaigns to educate communities about the dangers of drug abuse. Regulation of pharmaceutical shops was another key point of discussion. It was informed that inspections were conducted on 124 pharmaceutical shops, leading to the suspension of six licenses. Additionally, CCTV cameras have been installed in all pharmaceutical shops, while 679 shops have been computerized. The DC directed the completion of computerization for the remaining shops.
SSP Rajouri underscored the collective responsibility of the departments and the need for grassroots monitoring to address the issue effectively.
Further, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all ADMs to collaborate with BMOs to conduct home visits of individuals treated at drug de-addiction centers. This initiative aims to gather feedback and ensure that rehabilitated individuals do not relapse into substance abuse.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug abuse in the district through stringent enforcement, enhanced public awareness, and comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
The meeting was attended by SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar; ACR, Mohd Jhangir Khan; ACD, Vijay Kumar; DSWO, Abdul Raheem, and other senior officers. ADCs and SDMs participated virtually.
