Rajouri: District Election Officer, Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting with all the districts officers, associated with the conduct of the election, to take the first-hand appraisal of the basic minimum facilities at each polling station.
The DEO asked the officers to stress on the minimum facilities at polling stations.
These include its location, distance of each polling station, the building must be worthy of use, separate entrance and exit, help desk to provide assistance to voters, ramps facility for physically challenged voters, proper signage, drinking water facility, sufficient lighting, adequate furniture, and toilet.
It was informed in the meeting that there are 614 polling stations in district.
A threadbare discussion was held with each ERO with respect to the basic facility like provision of ramp,drinking water and electricity in particular at each polling station.
Regarding to the construction of ramps, DEO directed the chief education officer, Rajouri to submit a detail about the schools where ramps are yet to be constructed.
DEO also directed the ExEN PWD to submit an estimate for the construction of ramp in consultation with the Chief Education officer.
In order to ensure drinking water facility at each polling station, EXEN PHE was directed to submit a estimates for installation of water connection at each polling stations.
EXEN PDD was directed to ensure proper electricity at each polling station.
DEO, while interacting with the officers concerned, asked them to submit the report of basic minimum facilities for polling stations within two days, so that necessary action could be initiated, accordingly.
He exhorted upon the officers/officials involved in the process to work in tandem so that desired results could be achieved before the elections.
The meeting was Chief by ,Deputy District Election Officer,Rizwan Asger the executive enginners from PWD,PHE,PDD,REW,
District Panchayat officer Rajouri and other concerned officer.
