Srinagar, May 31: –Despite of repeating requests from Directorate to secretariat for the release of withheld salaries of teachers, the suicide of 24 years old son of kulgam teachers is an eye opner for the concerned officials.The incident saddened the whole teaching community of the JKUT .
According to a press release issued here by Jammu and Kashmir rehbar- taleem teachers forum( JKRETTF) spokesperson has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life of the son of a teacher Bashir Ahmad Mir( RRET) from kulgam who is without salary from last two and half years.
forum chairman Farooq Ahmed Tantray termed it the official apathy of education department who despite of repeated requests still not pay any heed towards this grave issue .
Expresses condolences to the bereaved family said that the whole teaching community is in deep shock over the incident and their sympathies are with the bereaved family.He said that the department of education forcing the family members of the teachers to take such drastic steps for not releasing the withheld salaries of the teachers and termed it as the lack of seriousness from the concerned authorities. They demanded immediate intervention of LG administration in this matter and appealed them to provide justice to the bereaved family. Besides forum chairman Farooq Ahmed Tantray, vice chairman Zahoor-u-in Baig, Shakeel Zohad, General secretary Jahangir Alam Khan, district president Kulgam Intikhab Alam and other forum leaders demanded immediate action and inquiry in this matter. They said that in view of his father’s financial conditions, the viral video message released on social media by the youth before the end of his life has saddened the entire teaching community of JKUT.
They said and added that two and a half years ago, about 40,000 RRET teachers were converted into teacher grade II and III in a historic SAC decision by the governors administration and since then some teachers have not been given orders for verification and other related issues, and their salaries were not released even though they are serving in the department from years and was receiving regular salaries before transaction period as RRETs. He said that they are diligently performing there duties and their salaries have been withheld on unknown reasons.They said that in this heartbreaking incident, our fellow teachers lost his young son .Forum Chairman Tantray more said that despite several written submissions, the officers of the department are still unable to release the salaries of these teachers, which has cost one of our teachers in the form of a postgraduate son which is unfortunate and condemnable .Forum Chairman appeals to LG Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary and Secretary education of UT Jammu and Kashmir that justice should be provided to intervening in this matter personally. He further said that the different past governments pushed the RET teachers in various difficulties and troubles from the very beginning and has repeatedly taken them to the streets. Although the Governors administration had provided some relief after the SAC decision but some teachers are still facing difficulties as they have been forced to live without salaries from more than two and half years. The forum chairman further said that the entire teaching community shares their sympathies with Bashir Ahmed Mir and his family and prayed for the departed soul and patience to the bereaved family.
