DDC Rajouri takes a comprehensive review of Jal Shakti Department ;Asks for timely completion of projects, regular monitoring & utilisation of available funds in time

RAJOURI, DECEMBER 28: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to take the comprehensive review and functioning of the Jal Shakti Department.

Officers who attended the meeting included CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Hydraulics, JP Singh; ExEn Jal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed; ExEn Jal Shakti Nowshera, Bashir Ahmed besides other concerned officers.

Threadbare discussion about various important schemes being implemented in the district for the augmentation of the water supply was held in the meeting.

DDC took a comprehensive review of the status of the physical and financial progress of the works being executed under JJM, District and state Capex, BADP, NRDWP, languishing scheme, DDC, BDC and PRI Grants in the district and achievements made so far.

Discussing the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, the meeting was informed that as many as 293 schemes at an estimated cost of Rs 1550.52 crores have been approved and 380 villages in all the Nineteen blocks are to be covered and all the households of the district would be provided functional tap water connections.

Taking stock of the progress concerning the ongoing IEC activities being carried out in the district under JJM, the concerned officer was briefed about the activities being organised to sensitise the public about different aspects of the Jal Jeevan Mission.

He also highlighted the role and responsibilities of the Gram Sabhas for the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district.

Highlighting the importance of JJM, the DDC said that Jal Jeevan Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections in a time-bound manner.

Directing the officers to make collaborative efforts for the successful conduct of the awareness campaign in the district, the DDC asked the concerned to work with added zeal and in a mission, mode to achieve the fruitful results of the campaign. He also asked to actively involve PRI’s in the awareness campaign.

Stressing on the importance of collective responsibility towards water conservation, the DC appealed to all stakeholders to work shoulder to shoulder to conserve and preserve water, which is a priceless treasure of nature.

While reviewing the progress on other important schemes, the DC directed the concerned officers to expedite the progress to ensure that the projects are completed well in time to provide necessary benefits to the general public.

DDC also directed them to ensure the timely utilisation of the funds sanctioned for developmental works and ensure regular inspection.

Taking note of water scarcity in several villages and issues highlighted through print, electronic and Social Media, the DDC directed the officials of the Jal Shakti Department to take immediate measures and address the issue first-hand.

The District Development Commissioner asked the officers to remain stationed at the respective headquarters and no laxity will be tolerated in the deliverance of public services.
