DDC Rajouri reviews arrangements for Holy month of Ramadan *

Rajouri May, 02 : In order to review the arrangements for holy month of Ramadan,District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting in his office chamber with the concerned officers.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Sher Singh, Senior Suprintendent of police Yougal Manhas, Chief Medical Officer Dr Sunil Sharma, Executive Engineer PDD, Executive Engineer PHE, Executive Engineer STD-IV Kalakote, Tehsildar Rajouri, Executive Officer Muncipality Rajouri, other concerned officers and non official members.

During the meeting various issues were discussed in detail including availability of essential commodities, power and water supply, sanitation, security, medicare, regulation of rates of essential items, traffic management in the town, functioning of street lights etc.

XEN PHE informed the DDC that the work on a bore well at Bela Colony with the capacity of 10000 gallons is being executed by the department to meet the shortage of water for the Rajouri town and it will be made functional within the next five days. He further said that two more borewells have recently been sanctioned for the town and the work on these will be started after the removal of Model Code Of Conduct. The DDC directed the XEN PHE to ensure the proper supply of potable water during the month of Ramadan so that the general public donot suffer due to lack of water.The DDC also asked him to direct the officials of PHE to perform their duties positively.

The DDC directed the Executive Engineer PDD to ensure that the consumers get adequate power supply especially at the time of Iftar and Sehri.

The DDC informed that the district administration has released an amount of Rs 10 lakhs to the Executive Officer Municipality Rajouri for the installation of street lights in the town. EO municipality was directed to complete the work of installation within two days. The DDC also directed him to identify the places of religious gathering and install the mobile toilets there.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the officer of Municipal Committee to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the places of worships and at the places of congregations.
Municipal Committee was asked to install waste bins and ensure proper disposal of garbage.

He further directed the CA&PD department to keep available essential commodities for the general public and asked for effective monitoring of public distribution mechanism in the district and ensure that the quota of ration reaches and distributed to the people well in time.

Calling for ensuring the availability of all requisite and essential commodities to the people on prescribed rate during the Holy Month of Ramadan Deputy Commissioner asked the officers of all the department to work in synergized manner so that the people do not face any inconvenience during the Holy Month.

The chair directed the district officers to put in extra efforts for the convenience of the people during these auspicious days and ensure that all the basic amenities are available to the people. He said that the cleanliness and sanitation of lanes and drains, grand mosques in the town and Eidgahs where congregational prayers are to be offered should be prioritised by the municipal committee and non-functional street lights be replaced immediately for convenience of the commuters.
