COVID inoculcation drive for 15-18 age group begins in Rajouri.43260 children to be vaccinated in the district in 06 days

255 vaccination centres have been set up in different health blocks

RAJOURI, JANUARY 03: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today launched a vaccination drive for the 15-18 age group here at Govt Girls Model Higher Secondary School Rajouri.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Government of India has approved the vaccination for children in the age group of 15-18 years starting from today across the country.

Principal GMGHSS Rajouri, Abul Raof Dar; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; Dy CMO, Dr Anees Altaf Nabi besides staff members of the GGMHSS Rajouri and students were present during the event.

While speaking during the launching ceremony, the DC said that vaccination is a simple, safe and effective way to protect against COVID19 before coming into contact with the virus as it strengthens the body’s immune system.

Informing about the type of vaccine to be used for the inoculation of the targeted age bracket, he said that only Bharat Biotech’ indigenously-made shot ‘Covaxin’ will be used for vaccinating the 15-18 age group.

“As many as 43260 children of the district in the said age group are to be covered under the vaccination drive in six days and 255 vaccination centres have been set up in different blocks of the district”, he added.

Stressing upon generating mass awareness among the people in the targeted age group, the Deputy Commissioner urged the students to become vaccination awareness messengers and asked them to talk to their elders and peer groups and motivate them to get vaccinated.

He said that there is still hesitancy among the people about vaccination and appealed to them not to go by the myths associated with the vaccine as the vaccine is completely safe.

Regarding taking overdoses of the vaccine, the DC urged the public to avoid taking overdoses and receive both the jabs timely to avail the necessary benefits of the COVID vaccine.

Emphasizing following COVID appropriate behaviour, he appealed to the masses to ensure strict adherence to COVID protocols to avert the imminent threat of omicron.

He also directed the Health Authorities to make added efforts to ensure that all the eligible beneficiaries in the 15-18 age group are vaccinated at the earliest.
