RAJOURI, OCT 08:–District Administration Rajouri and Rajouri police have tightened security across the district especially in and around the about 100-meter radius of Government Boys Higher Secondary School where the counting of votes for 5 Assembly seats will be held on Tuesday (October 8).
District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner), Abhishek Sharma in an order has imposed restrictions on sale & distribution of liquor on October 7 & 8.
In another order DM to avoid traffic congestion, smooth movement of election officials/officers and the public, and keeping in view any security risk in and around BHSS complex, has declared roads from Seema Crossing to Kachhar Ground (Army Ground) via Fountain Chowk (Gujjar Mandi) and from Abdullah Bridge to Fountain Chowk as ‘pedestrian zones’.
The restrictions on all forms of motorable vehicular traffic shall remain in force from 5 am to 7 pm on October 8. Un-authorised entry into pedestrian zones has also been restricted.
District Magistrate Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma in a separate order issued on Tuesday has also declared Rajouri City as ‘No Flying Zone’ under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to ensure and strengthen security during counting of votes.
In another significant measure, the District Administration (Nodal Officer for complaints, monitoring, & redressal) set up a Complaint Monitoring Center in the District Election Office.
Any person/individual having any complaint related to counting of votes can register his complaint on Telephone Nos. 01962-260207, 01962-263100, and 1950 (toll free).
Meanwhile, just few hours ahead of counting of votes Additional DC Rajouri, Rajeev Khajuria 0n the direction of DEO Rajouri held a meeting with Additional SP (ASP Rajouri) Bikram Kumar, all Executive Magistrates along with their police counterparts to review the management of law & order on October 8.
Additional SP briefed on security arrangements & proactive measures & stressed the need for additional security personnel at vulnerable points and strict enforcement of section 164 of BNSS (earlier CrPC 144).
All the Executive Magistrates were asked to be present at their designated places. Special emphasis was laid on maintaining law & order around the counting centers.
In another development, a comprehensive training session was also organised at PG College for the appointed counting supervisors & assistants, which was joined by DEO Abhishek Sharma.
DEO emphasised the importance of accuracy, transparency, and strict adherence to the ECI protocols during the counting process.
234 employees have been designated for EVM counting and 150 employees are instructed on the management of postal ballots and the training session was headed by District Nodal Officer Training, Dr Naseem Ahmed.
