SRINAGAR AUGUST 14:--Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress General Secretary and member All India Congress Committee Waseem Ahmad Shalla has called on the Smart City Project CEO to expedite the macadamisation process in various areas of Srinagar’s old town, particularly within the Khanyar Constituency.
In a statement released today, Shalla highlighted the urgent need to improve road conditions, noting that residents are facing significant hardships due to the current state of the infrastructure.
While acknowledging that macadamisation has begun in several areas, he emphasized the necessity to increase the pace of work, citing the approaching rainy season as a critical factor.
“Even a brief drizzle lasting two hours leads to road inundation, as the upgradation work is still in progress. The concern about potential issues arising from the ongoing construction, including severe traffic congestion is also adding to the public inconvenience,” Shalla stated.
The Congress leader urged the administration to prioritize this matter, calling for a “war footing” approach to complete the macadamisation of roads and construction of pathways.
Shalla stressed the importance of minimizing disruptions to daily life, enabling residents to work and commute with ease.
