SOPORE SEPTEMBER 07:– Civil defence Baramulla and GMC baramulla in collaberation with Faculty of Agriculture Wadura conducted a programme on “Basic Life Skill for Success and Substance Use Disorder” where Ms. Danishta Aziz (Ph.D scholar, Division of Entomology) welcomed with adorable words to Chief Guest Professor Raihana Habib Kanth, Dean FOA, Wadura, Dr. Mir Inayat, R.J. Sahil Muzzafar and organizers. Dr. Mir Inayat (Chief Civil Defence Baramulla) deliberated on development of various skills in daily life giving emphasis on the parent child relationship: how to make this nod very sound to get rid off from the drugs. These drugs has become a menace all over the world used to make countries weaker and weaker as a war e.g. opium war between UK and China (1839). Several bids of smuggling are being trapped by forces and many of them are yet to traced. Dr. Inayat discussed about the effect of drugs on human physiology especially the effect on brain. He quoted several examples of the crimes within the family led by drug addiction. So far as Kashmir valley is concerned, 19 crores of rupees are spent only on cigarettes alone and there is not clear data on the other narcotics which is being done illegally on vast scale. Thousands of canals of poppy are being destroyed by police every year still we are not able curb this crime. Drugs effect on our behaviour, decision making and overall health resulting in destruction of many families. R.J. Sahil Muzzafar was next speaker who gave elaboration on motivation and how to imply it in our families to make our children best. He emphasized on development of personality in educational institutions and role of social media against drug addiction.
In concluding remarks Chief guest Professor Raihana Habib Kanth (Dean FoA) gave overall view on drug addiction and advised all the students to educate their families, friends and neighbours about the ill effects of drug addiction. She also promised to have such programmes again and again in the Faculty for well being of the community. This programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahad (Associate Professor) and his team of students.
