JAMMU, AUGUST 30: Apni Party, Vice President, and Former Minister, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali today called on Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar and submitted a memorandum.
As per a press statement, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali said the meeting with Lt Governor was held in a coordinal atmosphere during which he submitted a memorandum, demanding speedy implementation of Forest Rights Act.
“The process of FRA implementation on the ground is very slow and needs to be expedited and the procedure needs to be simplified,” he demanded in a memorandum submitted to the LG.
In his memorandum, he has demanded operationalization of EKLAVIYA Residential Model Schools, and Tribal Research Institute (TRI).
“Several ERMS were approved by the Government of India, MOTAS. The construction work of some of them is completed. However, they have not been operationalized till now. Similarly, the tribal research institute is still under construction, from 2017-18 at Srinagar, However, till the completion of the building, both the EMRS and TRI will be made functional on makeshift arrangements in the rented accommodation,” he demanded.
Regarding the Anas Irrigation Project which was started in the year 2015 under AIBP (now PMKY) with an estimated cost of Rs 54 crores, he said, the objective of the project is to irrigate the barren land 5000 hectares area in district Rajouri. The project includes a canal and 1300 mt tunnel, about 800 mt tunnel and a large portion of canal is complete, Due to the reason best known to the Jal Shakti Department. The work has been suspended for the last three years which should be restarted in the interest of the farmers community in a time bound manner,” he added.
The issue of Kotranka-Khawas road was also highlighted which consists of a stretch of 33 km road connecting the Sub-District headquarter, Kotranka and tehsil Khawas area with a population of more than 70, 000 soul is under construction for the last several years (CRF/languishing scheme).
“The condition of the road is deplorable and the people of the area are facing many problems. Therefore, the Road and Building Department should be directed to complete the construction work in a time bound manner,” he has urged the LG.
He further said that the construction of Degree College, Kotranka and opening of a New Degree College at Peeri.
“Government Degree College Kotranka was sanctioned in 2018, since then, the building has not been constructed, due to which the students are facing a lot of problems. Hence, construction of the building at Kotranka should be started without any further delay,” he has demanded.
Peeri which is a place located about 30 km from Rajouri, Darhal, and Kotranka with a number of High Secondary School in its vicinity, he said, and demanded opening of a new Degree College as most of the girls in the area discontinue their studies after 10 plus 2.
He further said that tourism in Rajouri-Poonch (Pir-Panjal) needs to be explored for tourism, to boost the economic condition of the people of that area. More than a crore people are visiting for pilgrimage of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine annually and if 10 % of the pilgrim tourists are directed to these areas and their stay can be extended by 2-3 days can boost the economic condition of the area.
“The area across the Pir Panjal is most beautiful with meadows, lakes, water bodies, with mesmerizing scenic beauty, but unfortunately it remains neglected,” he said and demanded that the tourist destinations should be promoted.
