Rajouri, July 30: Choudhary Zulfikar Ali, Vice President, Apni Party strongly opposed any move to auction Anas River as it would damage the ecosystem.
Choudhary Zulfikar Ali said that the administration should desist from auction of Anas which is the only fresh water River in Jammu Province. “We will not allow any attempt to auction the river so that the mineral is extracted by the contractors. The mineral sand, and stone are enough to cater the needs of locals. However, massing extraction will damage the ecosystem,” he said.
He was addressing a public meeting in Kotranka, Rajouri. “Exploitation of the natural resources will not be tolerated as it would be proven disastrous and against the sustainable development,” said the Former Minister.
He said that natural calamities are occurring across the world, and in J&K due to the unplanned developmental activities. “We shall not allow such a kind of development which is done to exploit natural resources and cause damage to the ecosystem,” he said.
He also expressed concern over the snail pace of developmental works in Rajouri district which were started by the previous Govt. He demanded the projects like Anas irrigation project, Kotranka-Khawas road, Degree college building Kotranka, eco-tourism park, amusement park at Kotranka, all PMGSY roads and other sectors are the glaring examples of snail pace of developmental activities in the district.
He demanded that the developmental works should be taken up on priority and they should be completed within a time frame.
