RAJOURI FEBRUARY 04:-Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri, Mohammad Hafiz Sheikh, conducted surprise inspections of several government schools in Rajouri town on Tuesday and suspended three teachers for unauthorized absence while issuing show-cause notices to several others for serious lapses in academic, administrative, and hygiene management.
The inspections were carried out following multiple complaints to assess regularity, punctuality, and overall work culture in schools falling within the Municipal Council limits of Rajouri.
During the visit to Middle School Ward No. 08, Rajouri, the CEO found that only 53 students were present out of an enrollment of 82. Five staff members were seen sitting idle, while three others were absent without authorization. No records of the Mid-Day Meal scheme were maintained, and the academic standard of the school was found to be extremely poor.
Taking serious note of the negligence, the CEO ordered the immediate suspension of three teachers — Yasmeen Akhtar, Nausheen Akhtar, and Sofia Akhtar. The school head was directed to submit a detailed explanation regarding the lapses through the concerned Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) within two days. The ZEO Rajouri was also instructed to withhold the salaries of the entire staff with immediate effect.
At Girls Higher Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar, the CEO observed serious deficiencies in academic planning, administration, and sanitation. The overall functioning of the institution was found unsatisfactory. Homework was not being checked properly, and teachers were found collectively on casual leave, with a noticeable trend of frequent absenteeism.
In view of these lapses, show-cause notices were issued to all staff members, directing them to submit their explanations through ZEO Rajouri within two days, failing which disciplinary action will be initiated as per rules. The In-charge was instructed to immediately improve academic performance and sanitation. The NYC posted in the school was directed to resume duties immediately, failing which the matter will be referred to the Director, NYC, J&K UT. The Headmaster was warned to ensure proper day-to-day management.
Later, the CEO inspected PM SHRI Boys Middle School, Jawahar Nagar, where the premises were found to be in an unhygienic condition. Despite adequate staff strength, academic performance was poor, and most teachers were on casual leave. One teacher was found on extraordinary leave without approval, while the Physical Education Teacher was on deputation.
All staff members have been directed to submit explanations within two days, and the school head was warned that failure to improve academic standards and sanitation would lead to the replacement of the entire staff.
