RAJOURI, JUNE 16:–Hard rock has emerged out in the middle of the Darhali river having three Pindis or Shi va Lingas-like structures & a sentry (Angrakshak) like figure created by carving the solid rock.
The rock was first witnessed by an elder local resident Shahbaz near Kasian-Ujjhan village on Rajouri-Darhal road.
According to Shahbaz and other locals, this rock emerges out of the water in the middle of the river for about a month in a year when the flow of water declines due to the peak summer season.
“The rock structures remain in the waters for about 11 months in a year” local residents claimed.
Shahbaz informed some Hindus about the rock and Sumit Bhargav, a senior journalist, and Vishal Pahari, a social activist & others rushed to the spot.
“After seeing the carved structures on a single hard lock, it surprises us a lot. We are not sure about the exact identity of the three structures. However, they could be Pindis ( Shri Mata Vaishno Devi) or Shiv Lingas” they said.
But it is sure that it’s a century-old Hindu temple and the history of this religious place could be ascertained only by the experts.
“The District Administration should come forward to develop this spot as a part of religious tourism and should invite a team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for further investigation,” said Sumit Bhargav.
