RAJOURI, AUGUST 23:–Women folks, including female teachers, students, staff, and scholars, of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri will soon be launching a special plantation drive on the campus as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
“The program aims at highlighting the crucial interconnection between humans and nature, making the plants an inseparable part of the ‘family consciousness’, leading to environmental protection and women empowerment,” said BGSBU official.
“Each woman member among the teaching and none teaching faculty of the University will take the responsibility of planting one sapling which they will plant in the open spaces around their respective departments/residential area or at any other designated spaces in the campus,” said Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice-Chancellor, BGSBU.
“Five female students in the first semester from each of the departments of the University will also be planting one sapling each on their respective departmental premises,” he said and added a nameplate of the female depicting the name and date of the plantation will be placed at the plantation site.
Prof. Akbar Masood informed that those women who would like to place the name of their girl child instead of their name at the plantation site will be allowed to do so.
“This is to give a sentimental attachment to see the trees are taken care of after planting instead of just leaving them to their fate and to ensure 100% survival and success of the plantation drive in the campus,” Prof. Akbar mentioned.
VC, BGSBU, Prof Akbar Masood said that women being the harbinger of progress and prosperity can propel India towards a second green revolution provided they get opportunities.
He added that this female-centric plantation drive aims to ensure that women contribute effectively towards our initiatives of Green Campus.
