Vice Chancellor Professor Jawaid Iqbal lauded the collective efforts of the faculty and students in making the initiative a success, underscoring the university’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible, environmentally conscious and academically competent graduates. He emphasized that such initiatives play a crucial role in bridging the gap between school education and higher learning.
Registrar Abhishek Sharma, IAS, stated that the Open Paathshala initiative is designed to attract students from across the region by showcasing BGSBU’s vibrant academic ecosystem and modern infrastructure. By offering early exposure to laboratories, research facilities and interactive learning platforms, the programme seeks to motivate young learners to aspire for higher education and academic excellence.
The initiative aimed at transforming conventional classroom teaching into an interactive, experiential and student-centric learning model by utilizing the university campus as a living laboratory. As part of the outreach programme, students from PM Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Rajouri, from Classes III to XII, visited the university campus over the course of one week.
During their visit, the students actively participated in guided academic interactions conducted by university faculty. They were taken to various departments and laboratories, where the importance of practical learning, interdisciplinary education and environmental awareness was highlighted.
The students explored the Polytechnic College, College of Engineering and Technology, and Biosciences Laboratories, where they received hands-on exposure to scientific instruments, specimen studies and basic research methodologies. Faculty members introduced them to concepts related to animal sciences, biodiversity and ecological studies, helping them connect classroom theory with real-world applications.
The programme also included a visit to the Lead Botanic Garden, where students learned about plant diversity, sustainable practices and environmental conservation. The interaction reinforced the significance of green campuses and ecological stewardship in higher education institutions.
In addition, activities at the University Football Ground focused on promoting teamwork, leadership qualities and physical fitness, emphasizing holistic development as an integral part of education.
The successful conduct of Open Paathshala reflects BGSBU’s proactive approach towards community outreach, experiential learning and inspiring the next generation of learners to pursue knowledge-driven and socially meaningful careers.
