Dr Shazad Expresses Concern over Surge in Dengue Cases, demands Preventive Measures

Jammu November 11: –Dr Shazad Malik, former Vice Chancellor and Chairman of BADC, Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference, a registered body, today expressed serious concern over the surge in dengue cases in Jammu and Kashmir and have urged the J & K government to take preventive measures to curb the disease.

In an appeal to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the BADC chairperson said that increasing number of Dengue patients in J & K is a serious health issue for entire J & K and especially for the backward border areas wherein the health facilities for the inhabitants are already minimal. Citing the example of border town Mendhar, Dr Shazad stated that maintaining cleanliness is primary condition for prevention of dengue and other water borne diseases and further informed that in border town Mendhar there is no specific department or agency responsible for daily cleaning of lanes and drains.

He reiterated his demand of establishment of Mendhar Municipal Committee to provide basic cleanliness facilities and management of Liquid and solid wastage in the border town and for other civic amenities. The BADC Chairman also laid stress on up gradation of health facilities in all border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
