JAMMU NOVEMBER 20:– Dr Shazad Malik Chairperson of JK-BADC, Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference and former Vice Chancellor of SNU strongly condemned the Jammu and Kashmir health department and civil administration of border district Poonch for poor health infrastructure and inadequate manpower in the district and urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to prioritize health sector of Poonch.

In a statement issued here Dr Shazad said the government should issue a white paper on health facilities available in different health institutions of the border district along with shortage of doctors and other paramedical staff there. He said most of the primary health centers in the district do not have sanctioned strength of doctors allied staff nor do they have necessary healthcare machinery including X-rays , ECGs, Operation theaters, Stretchers, wheelchairs. He also highlighted the shortage of smart ambulances and even drivers. The BADC Chairperson said that despite liberal funding by the government of India for providing health facilities for border areas, the official apathy of Baabus is the biggest hurdle in providing relief to the people of these areas. He said the population of 5 to 6 Lac people cannot be left at the mercy of these officers and demanded that the LG Manoj Sinha must intervene.
