    RAJOURI DEC 15:– In light of the ongoing essential upgrades to the power grid station in Rajouri, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Mr. Iftkhar Ahmed, has issued an appeal to the public to remain patient over the next few days. He assured residents that there would be no unscheduled power cuts during this period and emphasized that the temporary disruptions are necessary to ensure an improved and more reliable power supply in the future.

    MLA explained that the scheduled upgrades are part of a long-term initiative to modernize the power infrastructure in Rajouri. These upgrades are aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency, stability, and capacity of the power supply to cater to the growing demands of the region. The MLA noted that the work being carried out is crucial to meet the future energy requirements of the area and to address the increasing needs of households, businesses, and institutions.

    “I understand the inconvenience that power disruptions can cause, especially during the winter season, but I assure you that these disruptions are temporary and are vital for improving the power grid’s overall performance,” said Mr. Ahmed. “The team is working tirelessly, and we expect the necessary upgrades to be completed in the next few days. Once completed, the region will benefit from a much more reliable and stable power supply in the future.”

    RAJOURI DEC 13:-In a tragic road accident near Chadhan village on the Rajouri-Kotranka road, a car carrying four family members skidded off the road and plunged into a deep ditch around 9:30 a.m. on Friday. The incident claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy, while three other family members sustained serious injuries.

    The vehicle, a Swift car bearing registration number JK11D-4908, was en route from Kotranka to Rajouri when the driver reportedly lost control, resulting in the vehicle veering off the road. Local residents, responding swiftly to the scene, managed to rescue the victims and transport them to Medical College Rajouri for urgent medical attention.

    The deceased, identified as Vivek Sharma, son of Khel Raj from Jamola village, was in critical condition and was referred to Government Medical College Jammu. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries en route. The injured—Ramesh Chandra (father), Renu Sharma (daughter), and Rajesh Sharma (son)—are all being treated at Medical College Rajouri. They are also residents of Jamola village.

    Authorities from the Rajouri Police have registered a case and commenced further investigations. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family following the post-mortem examination for the last rites.

    This incident serves as a grave reminder of the risks on hilly roads and the importance of cautious driving, especially in regions prone to accidents.

    RAJOURI DEC 13:– In a bid to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri, Pawan Kumar Sharma, has launched an intensified campaign against violators across the district and on the Jammu-Poonch Highway. The initiative aims to curb reckless driving and enforce discipline among drivers, particularly those operating passenger vehicles.

    On Friday, Sharma, accompanied by his team, set up a special checkpoint in the Muradpur area of the Jammu-Poonch Highway. During the operation, over 60 passenger vehicles were inspected. E-challans were issued to 21 vehicles, resulting in the collection of fines amounting to ₹75,000. Additionally, two vehicles were seized for serious violations.

    Sharma emphasized that drivers must carry all necessary documents, ensure they are complete, wear proper uniforms, and strictly avoid overloading their vehicles. He warned that violations of traffic rules would not be tolerated, and offenders would face severe penalties, including vehicle seizure.

    The ARTO further announced that similar checkpoints would be established daily on various routes, underscoring the administration’s commitment to improving road safety and ensuring compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act.

    This proactive measure sends a clear message to drivers about the importance of road discipline, aiming to create a safer environment for commuters in the district.

Degree College (GDC) Doongi organized a one-day awareness program on Mission YUVA – Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan under the supervision and guidance of the college’s Principal, Dr. Jaipal Singh.The event aimed to promote entrepreneurship, enterprise development, and business planning among students, emphasizing government schemes designed to empower youth as job creators rather than job seekers.

    The program commenced with a welcome address by Professor Kajal Samyal, who provided a comprehensive overview of Mission YUVA. She highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in addressing unemployment and the government’s efforts to promote self-employment in the region. Prof. Samyal also outlined a future roadmap to boost youth participation in entrepreneurial activities.

    The event featured Mr. Ahsan Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Economics at GDC Doongi, as the resource person. Mr. Ahmed shared valuable insights into business development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable enterprise growth.     RAJOURI DEC 13:-The Social Welfare Department organized a pension grievance redressal camp at Panchayat Ghar in Leeran, Tehsil Darhal. The event witnessed the participation of around 200 beneficiaries who raised various issues related to their pensions and other welfare concerns.

    The department assured attendees of prompt action to address their grievances. Beneficiaries of the ISSS (Integrated Social Security Scheme) and NSAP (National Social Assistance Program) schemes were informed about their rights and the benefits available under these programs.

    In addition, attendees were educated about other welfare initiatives, including marriage assistance schemes, scholarships, and aid for disabled persons such as prosthetic devices and motorized tricycles.

    The camp also featured health screenings for elderly and disabled individuals conducted by doctors from the Health Department, who distributed free medicines to the patients. Dr. Nazir from Ayush and Shahid Mumtaz Khan, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer (TSWO) Darhal, provided detailed information on government welfare schemes aimed at uplifting vulnerable groups, including women and children.

    The camp was a step towards ensuring that the marginalized sections of society are made aware of their entitlements and provided with the necessary support to improve their living standards.

    RAJOURI,DEC 13:Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, accompanied by medical teams, made his second consecutive visit to the remote village of Badhaal in Kotranka subdivision today to oversee the investigation into the death cases reported in two families.

    The district administration is making every possible effort to determine the causes of these tragic incidents.
    During his visit, the DC interacted with the affected families and local residents to provide moral support and raise awareness about preventive health measures. He assured the villagers that the administration stands with them in this challenging time.

    Initially, the first incident was suspected to be a case of food poisoning. However, following a second mysterious death in the village, the Deputy Commissioner deployed specialized health teams to collect food and water samples and conduct an in-depth survey of the area. Five teams of the Health Department, under the close supervision of Chief Medical Officer Rajouri, Manohar Rana are actively collecting samples of food and water. These samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and a drugs laboratory for comprehensive analysis to ascertain the exact cause of the deaths.

    Health teams deployed from GMC Jammu, Directorate of Health Services and State Epidemiology Unit are working jointly in the affected village to address the situation comprehensively and provide immediate relief.

    Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Sikarwar, and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Budhal, Javed Iqbal Choudhary, jointly visited the village to assess the situation and ensure coordinated action. They interacted with the locals and reiterated the administration’s commitment to addressing their concerns.

    *The district administration has also activated field functionaries from various departments to conduct awareness drives and provide necessary assistance to the villagers. These efforts include ensuring the availability of safe drinking water, health check-ups and the distribution of essential supplies.*

    MLA Javed Iqbal Choudhary praised the prompt and coordinated response by the district administration, led by DC. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts to address the situation effectively and prevent similar incidents in the future.

    The administration is closely monitoring the situation, and further updates will be shared as investigations progress.

    THANAMANDI, DEC 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) under overall supervision of ARI & Trainings Department and in coordination with District Administrations through District Industry Centre, Rajouri organized a counselling cum awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Thanamandi, Rajouri to educate the aspiring candidates/students about the Entrance Examinations/Counsellings Schedule for admission to various professional courses to be conducted by J&K BOPEE in UT of J&K for the session 2025-26.

    The Camp aimed to address the issue of low enrolment and vacant seats in various Govt./Private Colleges/ Institutions of UT of J&K due to dearth of information and awareness among the students particularly from far flung areas/districts about various professional courses, eligibility criteria, admission processes and future prospects. BOPEE officials and experts interacted with students, addressed their concerns and provided insights on the benefits of pursuing professional education within the Union Territory of J&K. The Awareness Camp also highlighted the advantage of pursuing professional courses in local colleges of UT of J&K, including minimum fee structure as compared to other states outside J&K, and better job opportunities.

    Prof. (Dr.) Minu Mahajan, Chairperson JKBOPEE in her message urged the students of the district Rajouri to avail the opportunity in securing seats of your choice in the professional colleges by participating in large number in the upcoming academic session. She said that the Board is committed to fill up all seats to avoid depletion of the resources and opportunities available in various Govt./Private Colleges/Institutions of J&K.

    Prof. Gurvinder Raj Verma, Controller of Examinations, J&K BOPEE expressed various concerns regarding students opting for colleges outside the UT of J&K and are facing difficulties due to lack of awareness of professional courses among the students. He apprised students about available courses, seats intake, basic qualification, registration processes, allotment of seats, counseling schedule and various other aspects of admission process in various professional courses conducted by J&K BOPEE.

    The introductory remarks of the camp were given by Shri Farid Ahmad Kohli, General Manager District Industry Centre, Rajouri wherein he gave the details of the awareness program and advised the students to be proactive in their approach and participate in these types of programs in large number. Additionally, the said camp was also attended by the Principal of the Higher Secondary School Mohd Farooq Mirza, Shri Vishavdeep Singh (Project Manager, DIC), Vivek Singh, (Project Manager, DIC), Staff Members and the students of the school.

    These Awareness Camps were held for the first time by BOPEE since its existence to reach out to students at their doorstep and similarly more camps shall be held in the nearer future, if needed, in various areas/districts of J&K with the aim to aware the students about professional education so that maximum number of students are benefited from these initiatives.
