    RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 15:–In a proactive effort to enhance road safety and minimize road mishaps within the district, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, convened a pivotal meeting of the District Road Safety committee.

    Officers who attended the meeting were ADC Rajouri, Rajeev Kumar Khajuria; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ASP, Vivek Shekhar; SE PWD(R&B), Vikram Singh; CEO Education, Sultana Kouser; CMO, Dr. Rajinder Sharma; ARTO, Pawan Sharma; XEN PWD (R&B) Rajouri, Sardar Khan; XEN PWD(R&B) Nowshera, VK Raina and other concerned officers.

    At the outset of the meeting, the District Roll out Manager, Pankaj Sabharwal, delivered a comprehensive presentation on i-RAD/e Dar, elucidating the multifaceted facets of road safety and the proactive steps being taken to curtail road accidents in the district.

    Additionally, it was disclosed that a total of 287 accidents have been recorded in the district since July 2022, all of which have been documented and uploaded onto the i-RAD platform for comprehensive analysis and action. The committee extensively discussed awareness campaigns, the establishment of a trauma center, the identification of black spots, and the installation of crash barriers, among other crucial measures aimed at bolstering road safety.

    The Deputy Commissioner while emphasizing the paramount importance of widespread public awareness, underscored the significance of averting road accidents, injuries, and fatalities. He encouraged the stakeholder departments to champion a culture of mutual respect among road users, emphasizing the imperative need for drivers to prioritize safety precautions for themselves and fellow citizens.

    The Deputy Commissioner mandated medical checkups for all drivers employed by private schools providing transportation services. This measure aims to prioritize the health and safety of these drivers and the students they transport. He also called for a thorough safety audit of all privately owned vehicles used for school transportation. This audit is crucial to ensure the safety of students and the reliability of these vehicles.

    In a resolute move to enforce road safety norms, the DC asked the Traffic and Motor Vehicle Departments to hold special drives to rigorously monitor traffic rule violations and to impose stringent penalties on offenders.

    The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to the promotion of road safety and the overall well-being of the citizens of the district. These comprehensive measures, discussed and endorsed during the meeting, are being executed with full force, effectively transforming road travel within the district into a safer and more secure experience for all.

    In response to the concerns of the residents, the Deputy Commissioner assured them that prompt and effective measures would be taken to address their issues within specified timeframes.     Jammu, Sept 14 :– A Sarpanch and a Village Defense Committee (VDC) member killed his wife by shooting her with 303 rifle in Patrara in Rajoiuri district, officials said on Thursday.

    “In the intervening night of 13/14 Sept, an information was received at Sunderbani police station that one person namely Yashpal son of Tirth Ram of Patrara, who is also Sarpanch of Panchayat Halka Patrara, fired upon his wife with VDC .303 Rifle, resulting his wife namely Neelam Devi, 46, seriously injured,” a police official told GNS. The woman was later shifted to Sub District Hospital Sunderbani by her other family members. Later the injured woman was referred to GMC Jammu for further treatment, he said.

    On this information, he said, a case (FIR No 63/2023) under section 307/323 IPC and 30 Indian Arms Act was registered.

    Also Police team rushed to the spot and collected all relevant evidences and arrested the accused Sarpanch Yashpal from Patrara.

    “The weapon of offence also stands recovered and seized.”

    Later injured woman succumbed to her injuries in GMC Jammu with which police has now added offence in Section 302 IPC (murder) in the instant cas.
    Meanwhile, body of deceased has been handed over to her legal heirs after completing all legal formalities.

    RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 13:– In an earnest endeavor to address public concerns, Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal today led a highly successful public outreach event as part of the Weekly Block Diwas initiative here at Panchayat Maira (Nagrota) of Rajouri block.

    The event served as a vital platform for local residents and their representatives to voice their concerns and demands as they sought maintenance of roads, adequate staff in government institutions, addressing the problem of water scarcity and enhancement of the healthcare infrastructure.

    Specific demands highlighted during the event were provision of electricity poles, repair of road from Nagrota to Panjahdhara, bringing AWC Panchayat Maira under the ICDS department, realignment of road from Nagrota main market to Chowkian Bridge, check on unscheduled power cuts and many more.

    During the proceedings, government officials used the opportunity to inform attendees about ongoing schemes, encouraging community engagement and urging residents to take advantage of these initiatives.

    In his address, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal emphasized the commitment of the administration to deliver essential services to the public in a seamless manner.

    Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner assured citizens that their grievances have been duly noted, and concerned departments would take incremental action to address legitimate concerns. Instant directives were issued to prioritize and resolve the issues projected on the occasion leading to redressal of many issues on-the-spot.

    In a significant step towards addressing water scarcity, the Deputy Commissioner pledged to ensure functional tap water connections for every household in the district. This ambitious target will be met through the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, a comprehensive initiative aimed at providing sustainable water supply. Addressing the issue of shortage of electricity poles, he assured that an adequate number of poles would be provided under the RDSS scheme of the PDD Sector.

    He further assured to issue instructions for the renovation of Nagrota to Panjahdhara road within a strict time frame of fifteen days. Furthermore, recognizing the need for a change in the alignment of the road from Nagrota main market to the Chowkian Bridge, he asked the XEN of the Public Works Department (PWD) to promptly undertake the necessary measures to address this matter.

    In addition to addressing the road concerns, the Deputy Commissioner also emphasized the importance of public welfare. To ensure that the citizens of the district are well-informed about the Agriculture and Horticulture Department schemes, he directed the concerned officers to organize a special awareness camp at Maira. This camp will serve as a platform to educate the public and create awareness about the benefits and opportunities provided by the initiatives of the departments.

    The DC stressed the importance of promptly addressing public grievances related to water supply and directed the XEN Jal Shakti Department to engage with the public and address their concerns promptly. Simultaneously, while addressing the issue of unscheduled power cuts, he asked the Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Power Development Department (PDD) to ensure power supply to the public while strictly adhering to curtailment schedules.

    Furthermore, he gave assurance that the recently established electric substation in Badhoon will effectively mitigate low voltage issues and address unscheduled power cuts.

    Referring to the PMAY -G and Awas plus schemes, he assured the general masses that the new allocation underscores the commitment to expedite the construction of houses for deserving beneficiaries in the region.

    The Deputy Commissioner further affirmed that significant progress is being made on the construction of the Palma and Kotedhera bridges, emphasizing that both projects are set to substantially enhance regional connectivity. The DC emphasized the importance of comprehensive development throughout the district and assured the residents that the district administration is making dedicated efforts to ensure the same.

    He also emphasized that the ongoing pension verification process is actively underway and urged beneficiaries to collaborate closely with the Social Welfare Department to expedite the completion of this important process.

    KISHTWAR SEPTEMBER 12:–The District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with Kishtwar Development Authority (KDA), Directorate of Tourism Jammu, and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art,Culture & Languages (JKAACL) celebrated the Devigol Festival in the picturesque Bunjwah area of Kishtwar district amid great enthusiasm and public participation.

    The event, held on Sunday, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 10,000 individuals who reveled in a blend of traditional Sports (Dangal), cultural performances, and recreational activities amidst the breathtaking natural beauty.

    Several government agencies and organizations, including the Indian Army,Ratle Hydro Electric Power Project, District Youth Services and Sports Department Kishtwar,RDD,Revenue,Forest Department, and the All Sports Association Bounjwah besides the locals played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of the festival.

    This festival represents the collective efforts of the Administration, PRIs,KDA,Ratle HEP, Indian Army ,Cultural Academy and Local Citizens to unlock the tourism potential of the lesser-explored tourist destinations in Kishtwar district. Earlier this year, the district administration, in collaboration with the Tourism Department and KDA, successfully organized the Sinthan Festival, which drew over 16,000 visitors.

    The Devigol Festival now stands as the second most appreciated extravaganza for this year in view of Kishtwar’s growing appeal as a tourist destination following Sinthan.

    The Devigol Festival featured an array of attractions, including Dangal, Sports, trekking adventures, dance performances, musical showcases, local cuisine, and more.

    The major attraction of the festival was the Dangal (Traditional Wrestling),which Steals the Show, witnessed an exhilarating display of traditional wrestling.
    Wrestlers hailing from Punjab, various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Kathua, showcased their incredible skills.

    The Dangal competition, featuring a generous prize of 1 Lakh.The success of the Dangal competition was a testament to the dedicated efforts of the Dangal Organizing Committee, the active participation of local Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and the support of public leaders.Their unwavering commitment played a pivotal role in making this traditional wrestling spectacle a resounding success.

    The Dangal event not only entertained the audience but also celebrated the rich cultural heritage and sporting traditions of the region. It brought together wrestlers from different backgrounds, promoting unity through the shared love of the sport and a deep appreciation for cultural diversity.

    The Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar expressed his appreciation for the Dangal competitors and organizers, recognizing their dedication to preserving and promoting the traditional sports that are an integral part of Kishtwar’s identity.

    Besides this, other sports activities like Volley Ball and Tug of War were also organised by Sports Department Kishtwar on the occasion for the amusement and recreation of Participants and Tourists.

    Other attractions of the event were renowned artists like Farooq Khokar, Bashir Mastana, and Chaman Lehri and their parties along with local singers, Who also performed Kashmiri, Gojri, and local folk songs, captivated the audience with their mesmerizing melodies.

    RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 12: –Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, chaired a meeting today to evaluate the progress of Aadhaar enrollment initiatives throughout the district. The meeting emphasized the crucial need for efficient execution and widespread participation in the Aadhaar enrollment process. Vikas Kundal reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the District administration to ensure equitable access to various government schemes.

    The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajiv Kumar Khajuria, District Statistics & Evaluation Officer (DSEO) Rajouri, Sandeep Kumar Sharma, and P.O. ICDS, Showket Malik. Additionally, ADC Nowshera, ADC Sunderbani, ADC Kalakote, ADC Koteranka, and SDM Thannamandi participated in the meeting through virtual mode.

    At the outset of the meeting, District Statistics & Evaluation Officer Rajouri reported that 100% of the eligible adult population in District Rajouri has been covered under Aadhaar. However, the coverage for children aged 0-5 years is approximately 65%.

    DC Rajouri Vikas Kundal emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to fully implement the Aadhaar-linked birth registration (ALBR) System at all delivery points in the district. This ensures that Aadhaar numbers are automatically included on birth certificates issued through the CRS portal.

    The PO ICDS was directed to conduct a fresh survey to identify the remaining 0-5 years age population within a week and submit a final report by September 20th. In this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioners Rajouri, Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kalakote, Koteranka & SDM Thannamandi were instructed to hold regular meetings with CDPOs & ZEOs to identify the left-over 0-5 years age population and enroll them through operators of ICDS, SSA & CSCs . The process should be completed as swiftly as possible.

    The DC Rajouri stressed the importance of daily reporting formats and instructed all ADCs/SDM Thannamandi to provide status updates on a daily basis.

    Recognizing the crucial role of accuracy, efficiency, and comprehensive coverage in the enrollment process, Vikas Kundal issued directives for vigilant supervision and continuous monitoring by all relevant officers. This hands-on approach ensures that citizens receive accurate Aadhaar documentation, enabling them to seamlessly access benefits offered through various government initiatives.

    Deputy Commissioner Rajouri reiterated the unwavering dedication of the district administration to achieving universal Aadhaar enrollment. The meeting served as a platform for reviewing past achievements and strategizing for future phases of implementation

    During the meeting, officers engaged in discussions regarding potential challenges in the Aadhaar enrollment process. They highlighted the previous organization of special camps across the district, targeting both government and private schools. The officers pledged to continue organizing camps to ensure comprehensive coverage for any remaining beneficiaries.
