    RAJOURI DEC 22:-The Brigadier Usman SPPR Inter District/Tehsil Cricket Tournament 2024 organised under the aegis of White Knight Corps concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the Brigadier Usman Cricket Stadium, Naushera. The event was presided over by the GOC, Ace of Spade Division, as the Chief Guest, alongside esteemed dignitaries including Commander Tithwal Brigade, Commander Naushera Brigade, DC Rajouri and other prominent local leaders. The ceremony celebrated the tournament’s success in fostering sportsmanship and unity while showcasing the immense cricketing talent of the region.

    The electrifying finale between Sunderbani and Poonch was a spectacle of skill and determination. Poonch emerged victorious, clinching the championship trophy and a cash prize of ₹4 Lakhs. The runners-up, Sunderbani, were awarded ₹2 Lakhs. Mehboob Sheikh of Sunderbani was declared Man of the Match for his exceptional all-round performance.

    HIGHLIGHTS
    Sunderbani won the toss and opted to bat, posting an impressive total of 138 runs in 20 overs. Poonch, despite the competitive total chased down the total in 16.3 overs at the loss of 7 wickets. Mehrab Mir shone as the top scorer for Sunderbani with 92 runs, while Mehboob Sheikh of Poonch showcased remarkable effort taking 2 wickets and scoring 35 crucial runs for Poonch enabing them to chinch the championship.

    Awards and Recognition:
    The tournament honored outstanding individual performances with the following awards:

    Player of the Series: Bilal Ahmed, awarded a Motorcycle.Best Batsman: Bilal Ahmed, awarded ₹25,000.

    Best Bowler: Md Arif, awarded ₹25,000.

    Man of the Match: Mehboob Sheikh, awarded ₹15,000.

    Tournament Overview:
    This inaugural edition of the Brigadier Usman SPPR Inter District/Tehsil Cricket Tournament was a landmark event, bringing together eight district/tehsil teams—Udhampur, Akhnoor, Sunderbani, Reasi, Naushera, Rajouri, Poonch, and Doda. Conducted on a league-cum-knockout basis, the tournament boasted the largest prize pool in the region, totaling ₹20 Lakhs.

    The tournament achieved remarkable success, with live-streamed matches reaching over 50 Lakh viewers across various electronic platforms like Facebook and YouTube. Print media coverage extended to 2 Lakh readers through 15 regional and national newspapers.

    The Brigadier Usman SPPR Cricket Tournament underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to uplifting remote border areas by promoting local talent, fostering unity and encouraging a vibrant sporting culture.     SRINAGAR DEC 22(KNO): Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah said that he will hold a “peaceful” and “dignified” protest outside chief minister’s official residence on Gupkar road to demand rationality in the reservation policy.
    In a post on X, Aga Ruhullah, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that he urged everyone to wait till December 22 to give the elected government time to address the issue.

    “Today marks the date I had committed to stand with those whose voices demand rationality in the reservation policy. In my response to a post on X (Twitter) by a concerned citizen, I urged everyone to wait until 22nd December to give the elected government time to address this issue. I also said that if the matter was not resolved by then, I would join you in protest outside the HCM’s residence or office,” he said.

    Ruhullah added that the deadline ends tonight, and he stands by his commitment, and tomorrow, he will join the people in a peaceful and dignified attempt at 2 pm outside chief minister’s official reaidence to demand answers on their issues from the government.

    “Over the past month, I’ve observed a range of reactions to the formation of the sub-committee. To those who believe that the issue remains unaddressed in a satisfactory manner: I stand by my commitment. Tomorrow, I will join the people in a peaceful and dignified attempt to demand answers on their issues from the government,” he said.

    He requested all those voluntarily coming to maintain civility and focus on raising genuine demands for a rational reservation policy. “To those who seek to exploit this issue for political gains: I welcome you to step out tomorrow and step away from rhetoric. Show your sincerity where it matters—the streets.

    Calls for revocation of reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir have been getting louder with the National Conference leader and MP Aga Ruhullah earlier promising to join the outcry.

    The policy introduced by lieutenant governor-led administration, before the assembly elections early this year, had squeezed the general category to 40%, which form the majority of the population, and increased reservation for reserved categories to 60%—(KNO)

    The BJP Budgam unit recently organized a series of meetings attended by district president Hakeem Ruhullah Ghazi, along with prominent members, including Altaf Thakur, who participated as the election observer for Central Kashmir in the upcoming organizational elections, and senior leader Rubeena Shahzad, who served as the returning officer.

    The meetings marked the culmination of month-long membership drives, which positioned the BJP Budgam unit as one of the best-performing units in Kashmir. During the events, new members were welcomed into the party and briefed about their roles and responsibilities, especially in light of the impending internal elections.

    New membership drives were also launched to expand the party’s base and nurture emerging leadership.     Dr. Ahanger’s mother passed away a few days back. She was laid to rest in the ancestral graveyard of her village, Midoora, located in Tral.

    RAJOURI DEC 20:-District Administration Rajouri has undertaken and completed the survey of Manual Scavengers and declared Rajouri as Manual Scavenging free.

    District Magistrate, Abhishek Sharma, in a notice issued on Thursday (December 19) has sought objections, if any, from the general public or claimants regarding this declaration.

    “Such objections must be submitted in writing to the office of District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri within 15 days from the date of publication of this notice.The objections may be submitted in person or sent via email to- pa.dcrajouri@gmail and rajouridswo@gmail.com. After the expiry of the stipulated period, if no objection is received, the district will be officially notified as Manual Scavenging Free” read District Magistrate notice.
    It is pertinent to mention here that in pursuance of order dt 20-10-2023 of Hon’ble Supreme Court WP©324/2020filed by Dr Balram Singh V/S Union of India & others and as per guidelines for Survey of Manual Scavengers issued by the GoI vide letter Dt 1-2-2024, District Administration Rajouri has undertaken and completed survey and has found no Manual Scavenger in the district.

    Manual scavenging is the practice of manually cleaning, carrying, disposing of , or handling human waste in an open drain, pit, latrine or on a railway track .
    This practice is often performed by people from lower castes and is considered a serious human rights violation.

    RAJOURI, DEC 20:- Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma chaired a comprehensive meeting to review and finalize the arrangements for the OMR-based written examination for the post of Constable (Photographer) in the Home Department, scheduled to be conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) on December 22, 2024.

    The meeting emphasized strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the JKSSB to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.

    The Deputy Commissioner urged all stakeholders to work in coordination to ensure a fair and hassle-free examination process, prioritizing the needs and convenience of the candidates.

    Among the key decisions, the ARTO was directed to ensure the availability of adequate transport facilities, especially on routes with a high concentration of candidates.

    The task of installation of signage at the centers was entrusted to Centre superintendents & Executive Officer municipality, while the Traffic Department was asked to keep routes leading to the 16 examination centers free from congestion on the examination day.

    Furthermore, Examination Observers were directed to visit respective centers a day before the examination to verify and ensure the readiness of arrangements. The Executive Engineer PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted supply of Electricity during the examination.

    The meeting was attended by ADDC Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa; ACR Mohammad Jahangir Khan, besides Observers, Centre Observers, Duty Magistrates and other district and sectoral officers.

    RAJOURI DEC 20:-The mysterious deaths of eight individuals, including seven children, in Badhal village remain unsolved, leaving the community in fear and frustration. Despite extensive investigations by expert teams from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), no definitive cause has been identified.

    The tragedy began on December 8 when Muhammad Fazal’s entire family fell ill. Fazal and his four children succumbed to the illness, while his wife remains under treatment at the Jammu Medical College, reportedly out of danger. Four days later, the illness struck another household, claiming the lives of three children from Muhammad Rafiq’s family in quick succession.

    Given the severity of the situation, authorities mobilized multiple medical teams, including specialists from Jammu and Rajouri Medical Colleges, and even deployed a BSL-3 mobile laboratory designed to investigate highly infectious diseases. Over 4,000 villagers were screened, and extensive samples of food, water, and medicines were collected. However, preliminary tests have yielded no conclusive findings.

    Local residents are demanding answers. “If nothing was found, then how did eight of our children die? We need answers to protect others,” said one distressed villager.

    Health officials confirmed that further analysis is underway, including tests on medicines consumed by the victims. The community anxiously awaits these results, hoping for clarity in this harrowing mystery
