    SRINAGAR JANUARY 08:–In order to enhance and evaluate security measures across the valley, the IGP Kashmir VK Birdi-IPS today conducted a comprehensive security review meeting at PCR Kashmir.

    The meeting was attended by DD IB  Nitin Tiwari-IPS, DIG CKR Srinagar Sujit Kumar-IPS, DIG SSB Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail Parray, DIG IR Kashmir Abdul Qayoom, SSP Srinagar Ashish Mishra-IPS, SSP PCR Shoket Hussain Shah, SSP Traffic City Srinagar  Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, SSP Security Kashmir  Sheikh Faisal and SP PC Srinagar Iftikhar Talib. DIG NKR Vivek Gupta-IPS & DIG SKR Rayees Mohammad Bhat-IPS alongwith district SSPs/PDs attended the meeting virtually. Besides, officers from Army, BSF, CRPF, CISF and SB also participated.

    During the meeting, the participating officers briefed IGP Kashmir about the overall security scenario and the security measures being adopted to counter the challenges. The discussions encompassed various facets, including intelligence gathering, threat assessments, emergency response protocols in view of VIP Visits and upcoming events like R-Day functions.

    The IGP Kashmir actively engaged with the officers, delving into discussions about initiatives aimed at maintaining law and order, as well as anti-terrorist operations within the valley. Highlighting the importance of continued efforts and coordination among different forces on the ground, IGP Kashmir stressed upon strengthening collaboration between different law enforcement agencies for seamless information sharing and joint operations besides, exploring innovative technologies to augment existing security infrastructure and response capabilities. He urged officers to intensify anti-terrorist operations and take stringent action against individuals or organizations supporting anti-national activities. Besides, directed them to enhance joint patrolling especially during the night hours to prevent any terrorist movement.

    During the meeting, the IGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of precision and coordination, outlining strategic measures to address potential challenges and uphold the highest standards of security.

    Mr VK Birdi expressed confidence in the preparedness of the security forces and assured the public of their commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment, besides stressed the importance of community support in maintaining peace and security in the valley.

    RAJOURI, JANUARY 08-– District Development Commissioner Rajouri Om Prakash Bhagat presided over a pivotal meeting today, to deliberate and approve the revised district action plan aimed at ensuring comprehensive coverage of left out beneficiaries under the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission.

    Jal Jeevan Mission, a visionary initiative, is steadfast in its commitment to providing safe and ample drinking water through individual household tap connections reaching every rural household in India. In addition to ensuring access to clean water, the program emphasizes the implementation of source sustainability measures, making greywater management, recharge, and reuse integral components of its mandate.

    The detailed deliberations during the meeting centered on the proposed action plan, reflecting the ongoing evolution of the mission. Previously encompassing 293 schemes with an estimated cost of Rs 1942.80 crores, the revised plan has not only streamlined existing initiatives but has also introduced five additional schemes. Consequently, the total number of schemes now stands at an impressive 298, with an estimated cost of Rs 1974.77 crores.

    The District Development Commissioner Rajouri expressed optimism about the potential of the revised plan to significantly enhance the reach of the mission, ensuring that no community is left without the essential resource of clean water. The commitment and collaborative efforts of the officers present underscore the dedication of the district administration to achieving the overarching goal of the mission.

    This meeting serves as a testament to the proactive approach adopted by the district administration in addressing the challenges and evolving needs of water resource management.     RAJOURI, JANUARY 08:–Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat today chaired an introductory meeting with District and sectoral officers here in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bungalow, setting the stage for a productive and proactive approach towards the holistic development of the district.

    Addressing the officers, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat emphasized the importance of prompt and efficient execution of the developmental projects. He asked the officers to work with utmost dedication and commitment, keeping the welfare of the public at the forefront of their endeavors.

    Recognizing the importance of coordination and collaboration, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to ensure close interdepartmental coordination.     RAJOURI JANUARY 08:–Police in Nowshera sub division of Rajouri district has recovered consignment of cement which is not meant for retail sale.

    Police said that a team of Police officials of PS Nowshera headed by SHO Nowshera raided a location at Chowki village of Nowshera in the house of a local person namely Sourab Chandan son of Bodh Raj resident of Chowki.

    During the raid, police seized twenty bags of cement not meant for retail sale.

    Accordingly, a case in FIR 04/2024 U/Ss 409, 109 IPC has been registered in police station Nowshera and further investigation is going on.

    The accused namely Sourab Chandan son of Bod Raj resident of Chowki has been arrested in the instant case.

    There is likelihood of more arrests as the investigation proceeds further to some logical conclusion.

    RAJOURI, JANUARY 07:– Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat today conducted a comprehensive inspection of the developmental projects in the region to assess their progress.

    The projects inspected included the water supply schemes in Palma and Nagrota under Jal Jeevan Mission. Both projects are set to be completed by March 2024. The DC directed the officers to maintain the current momentum, with a primary focus on ensuring the timely completion of the projects without compromising on quality standards.

    During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the ongoing construction of the 110-meter span bridge connecting Palma to Chowkian. He closely examined the progress of the launching work on the bridge. This crucial project, executed by the Public Works Department (Roads & Buildings), is estimated to cost Rs. 418 lakh.

    At Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, the DC inspected the staff quarters and directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to expedite the completion of the pending work. He also directed the concerned authorities to provide all civic amenities, including water and other facilities, to the staff quarters for their smooth functioning.

    The DC also paid a visit to the Girls’ Hostel Block, where he identified a few issues that require immediate attention. One of the key concerns raised was the need for the completion of the road leading to the Girls’ Hostel Block. The Deputy Commissioner directed the XEN PWD to address this issue promptly. Additionally, the need for proper drainage in the area was highlighted, and the XEN PWD informed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted to the concerned authorities.

    Furthermore, it was observed that a boundary wall needs to be constructed for the GMC Building. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of this boundary wall and instructed the concerned authorities to take the necessary steps to ensure its construction. Regarding the identification of suitable land for the water supply scheme, the XEN Jal Shakti has been directed to expedite the process and identify suitable land for the project.

    In conclusion, the district administration remains dedicated to the successful completion of these developmental projects, with a focus on improving the infrastructure and amenities for the benefit of the residents of Rajouri. By addressing the identified issues and ensuring efficient project execution, the district administration aims to enhance the overall development and well-being of the region.

    RAJOURI, JANUARY 07:-– In a proactive move to ensure the holistic development of the border areas in Rajouri district, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat undertook an extensive day-long tour. During the tour, he meticulously assessed the progress of various development projects aimed at enhancing the socio-economic landscape of the region.

    The cornerstone of the inspection was the site earmarked for the construction of Government Degree College (GDC) in Doongi. It was informed that a substantial 75 Kanal land has been demarcated and transferred to the Higher Education Department for this purpose. The estimated cost of this ambitious project stands at a commendable 35 crores, underscoring the commitment to fostering educational growth in the area.

    One of the vital projects under scrutiny was the Water Supply Scheme in SassalKote, approved under the Jal Jeevan Mission. With an estimated cost of Rs 3.4 crore, this initiative is anticipated to benefit around 500 individuals upon completion by March 31, 2024. Similarly, the examination of the Water Supply Scheme at Pukhrani, also sanctioned under the Jal Jeevan Mission, revealed a project with an estimated cost of Rs 979.77 lacs, aimed at benefiting 3776 souls upon successful implementation. He also inspected the progress on the water supply scheme at Rajpur Kamila sanctioned under JJM.

    Highlighting the importance of sustainable agricultural practices, the Deputy Commissioner visited the agricultural field of a progressive farmer in SasalKote village. This farmer is engaged in diverse activities such as mushroom cultivation, horticulture, floriculture, and organic farming, showcasing a commitment to innovative and eco-friendly agricultural practices.

    During the tour, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat directed the concerned officers to prioritize the timely and high-quality completion of all ongoing development projects in the district. This underscores the dedication of the administration to delivering tangible and positive outcomes for the local populace.

    A poignant aspect of the tour was the visit to the revered Shrine of Veervadeshwar, where the Deputy Commissioner offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, and progress of the region.     Later, the Deputy Commissioner also visited Shaheed Ghar at Qila Darhal where he paid rich tributes to the martyrs of 1947 who sacrificed their lives while defending the Fort against Pakistani intruders. He urged the civilians to carry forward the legacy of these great warriors. “Our freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for us and we shouldn’t let that sacrifice go to waste. We need to respect their contribution and seriously fulfill our responsibilities towards the country”, the DC maintained.

    During the visit to Raj Pur Qila Darhal, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat actively contributed to environmental conservation by planting saplings of almond and mausami, emphasizing the significance of sustainable practices for a greener future in Rajouri district.

    RAJOURI JANUARY 07:–To educate farmers about various Agriculture related Government programmes besides ensuring 100% saturation of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), series of camps were held across Gram Panchayat Kewal Lower in Budhal Block of Rajouri District today.

    The camps were presided over by the Sarpanch Gram Panchayat Kewal Mr Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi.

    Sarpanch Farooq Inqlabi appealed the farmers to maintain liaison with all the departments to avail maximum benefit of all departmental schemes and ensure 100 percent KCC coverage.
    He appealed all the PRI members to intensify mass awareness in their work areas regarding farmers’ welfare schemes like KCC, PM Kisan, Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bhima Yojana, Soil Health Card Scheme, Organic Farming and others to achieve the target of doubling the income of farmers.

    PRI members, Social activists and farmers from adjoining areas participated in the camp.
    The camp was attended by Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Samote Zone, Mr Mehmood Ahmed, Chowkidar Mohd Rafiq and other prominent persons of Village Kewal. AEO Mehmood besides disseminated information related to various Government schemes of Agriculture department which are meant for the welfare of the farmers.
    Speaking on the occasion, the AEO said that the camps are being organized with aims at reaching out to farmer and establishing a contact with the administration. He said that the aim for organizing camp at village level is to ensure 100% coverage of the farmers under KCC in the area so that they can avail low-interest loan.
    Meanwhile, Kisan Credit cards were also handed over to several progressive farmers of the area to help them secure timely credit at reasonable interest in a hassle-free manner.

    RAJOURI JANUARY 07:–Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri arrested a notorious narcotics peddler during patrolling in Bareri area of Naushera.

    Police said that a patrolling team of Police officials of PS Naushera noticed one person under suspicious circumstances, who on seeing police patrol team, tried to run away from spot. Acting swiftly the patrolling party chased the suspicious person and apprehended him.

    The suspect was identified as Sunny Kumar@ Sundi S/O Jai Ram R/O Bareri, Naushera.

    On his personal search, 06 grams of heroin like narcotics substance was recovered from his possession.

    The peddler was subsequently arrested from the spot, police said.

    Police said that a case in FIR 03/24 U/Ss 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in police station Naushera and further investigation is going on.
