    BUDHAL/RAJOURI FEB 23:--In a first of its kind, a grand farewell was given to Jammu and Kashmir Police officer Mr Niku Ram Thakur by the general public of Budhal on his transfer from Police Station Budhal. Mr Niku Ram Thakur was SHO Budhal since 2022.
    For three consecutive days, people from various areas of the Budhal visited the police station Budhal to bid a goodbye to the outgoing police officer. They were seen presenting him with bouquets, shawls, garlands and other souvenirs.

    Emotional scenes were also witnessed and some civilians broke into tears after learning about the transfer of Niku Ram Thakur. The civil society members too held a farewell party in honour of Niku Ram Thakur.
    A function was held in this regard at Police Station Budhal which was organised by the The Budhal Walnut and HortiProducersCo-operative Ltd (FPO), senior citizens with other civil society members of Budhal.

    Function was attended by a large number of people, civil society members, senior citizens, media persons and local ex-sarpanchs. Social Activist and Chairman Budhal Walnut and Horti Producers Co-operative Ltd Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi also attended the farewell function. He hailed Mr Niku Ram Thakur as a sincere, dedicated and honest police officer.

    The civil society members including Zaid Sagar, Shabir Kamlak, Waqar Lone, Manzoor Naik, Gafoor Bhat, Nazir Thaker, Tilak Raj Pandit, Iqbal Thaker, Zamurd Khan, Arif Chak, Adv Yaser Chak, Sofi Alam Din, Bashir Choudhary Koushalya Devi were also present during the farewell party.

    Civil society members presented souvenirs as a goodwill gesture to the outgoing officer and wished him the best for his future assignments. The participants appreciated SHO Niku Ram Thakur. They hailed him for taking a number of measures for youth engagement, curbing drug addiction and checking various social evils.

    Manzoor Naik, Waqar Lone, Zaid Sagar and Shabir Kamlak recalled pro-people services rendered by Niku Ram Thakur during his tenure as SHO Budhal. They said that he used to treat everybody with respect.
    While addressing participants SHO Niku Ram Thakur thanked people of Budhal and said that people of Budhal are very much Cooperative towards administration in all respect. He said that he received a lot of support and love from people of Budhal during his tenure as SHO Budhal.

People from different areas of Budhal visited Budhal police station for two consecutive days to bid farewell to the transferred police officer. People were seen offering bouquets, shawls, and other gifts.

    Emotional scenes were also seen on this farewell ceremony and after learning about the transfer of Niku Ram Thakur SHO Budhal some citizens of Budhal expressed regret. Civil society members also organized a farewell function in honor of Niku Ram Thakur SHO.

    In this regard, a function was organized at police station Budhal, along with senior citizens, other civil society members of Budhal were also present. Social worker Muhammad Farooq inqlabi also participated in the farewell ceremony. He appreciated Mr. Niku Ram Thakur SHO Budhal as a sincere dedicated and honest police officer.

    RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 23:-– Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat, today chaired a meeting of the District Level NCORD Committee to address the issue of drug abuse in the district. The meeting aimed to enhance the existing measures and strategies to combat drug abuse effectively.

    Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat meticulously assessed the ongoing programs and interventions to tackle the drug menace. The meeting facilitated a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted approach required to combat and eradicate drug abuse.

    Directions were issued to stakeholder departments to collaborate their efforts to achieve the goal of drug-free Rajouri district. The significance of guiding and supporting the youth to ensure they stay on the right path was also emphasised.

    The Deputy Commissioner asked the enforcement agencies to identify hotspots of drug trafficking to break the chain supply. The Sub-Divisional Level Committees were asked to intensify awareness campaigns in respective jurisdictions to raise awareness among the community about the hazards and the consequences of drug abuse.

    The health department was specifically instructed to improve surveillance of medicine stores through installation of cameras. This measure will help monitor and prevent any illicit activities or unauthorized access to medications, thereby curbing the misuse of drugs.

    The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for schools to play an active role in preventing drug abuse. As a result, CEO Education has been asked to sensitize school children about the detrimental effects of drug abuse. This initiative aims to educate and empower the younger generation to make informed choices and stay away from illicit substances.

    Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the concerned committee members to involve religious leaders in generating awareness in the community about the drug abuse. Recognizing the influential role that religious leaders hold within communities, their participation in spreading awareness can have a significant impact on shaping public opinion and behavior.

    The dedication of the District Administration to raising awareness about drug abuse, particularly among the younger generation, was a focal point of the discussions. The meeting emphasized the need for unity and combined efforts among administrative bodies, law enforcement agencies, religious leaders and educational institutions to create a robust mechanism for establishing the drug-free society.

    The District Administration of Rajouri is rigorously placing all efforts to educate citizens, especially the youth, about the dangers of drug abuse. Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat emphasized the importance of effective collaboration among stakeholders in tackling this challenge and fostering a drug-free society.

    The District Administration Rajouri remains committed to combating drug abuse and seeks continued support and collaboration from all stakeholders in creating a drug-free society.

    RAJOURI FEBRUARY 23:–Jammu & Kashmir Police, in its continued drive against absconders, nabbed an absconder in Rajouri , who was evading his arrest since two decades.

    The apprehended absconder has been identified as Mohd Taj S/O Mohd Akbar R/O Swani area of Rajouri.

    Notably the apprehended absconder was wanted in Case FIR No. 07/ 2004 registered under Section 298-A RPC of Police Station Rajouri.

    Police team of PS Rajouri led by SHO Rajouri raided at different suspected locations in Rajouri and in one such raid arrested the absconder from Sailaani area of Rajouri.

    RAJOURI FEBRUARY 23:-Under the aegis of “Operation Sanjeevani” JKP in District Rajouri arrested a youth following a recovery of Heroine like substance from his possession.

    A team of police headed by SHO Rajouri intercepted a youth near Sports Stadium Kheora, Rajouri and recovered Heroine like substance, weighing as much as 07 grams from his possession following which he been arrested.

    The apprehended accused person has been identified as Irfan Qureshi S/O Mohd Fazil Qureshi, resident of Saaj, Tehsil Thanamandi of District Rajouri.

    A formal criminal case under FIR No. 70/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajouri.

    Notably, this Operation Sanjeevani aims at unearthing both Forward & Backward linkages of NDPS recovery during the investigation and further follow up of case during trail before Hon’ble Courts and ensure conviction.

    Mentionable that JKP in District Rajouri has arrested dozens of narcotic peddlers in last couple of months as they were found involved in peddling of narcotics and has also detained multiple peddlers, the notorious ones, by invoking the scope of PIT-NDPS Act.

    =India-US are key stakeholders in the Indo-pacific region: Defence Secretary.

    RAJOURI DELHI FEBRUARY 21:–Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane has stressed that navigating the complex dynamics of the Indo-Pacific region, India and the United States are key stakeholders in the region, bound by shared values and common interests.
    He was speaking at the second edition of INDUS-X Summit 2024 which was planned for two-days to foster collective progress for defence industries across borders, particularly to align the technological capabilities for startups and MSMEs, and also to engage in discussions, bilateral dialogues on various pertinent objectives under the realms of INDUS-X and propose relevant outcome & way ahead to take the INDUS-X initiative forward.
    “Today, we are witnessing a pivotal moment in the history of the Indo-Pacific region. The Indo-Pacific, with its vast expanse of oceans and strategic waterways, stands as the crossroad of global commerce, geopolitics, and security. In navigating the complex dynamics of this region, India and the United States find themselves as key stakeholders, bound by shared values and common interests,” said the Defence Secretary.
    Highlighting robust defence partnership between the two countries, Giridhar Aramane mentioned Initiatives on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), launched jointly by Prime Minister Modi and President Joe Biden in the year 2022.
    “A pivotal aspect of our burgeoning relationship is the iCET that aims to establish ‘Innovation Bridges’ across key sectors, including defence, through expos, hackathons, and pitching sessions.” said the Defence Secretary.
    He talked about the Defence Innovation Bridge, a significant outcome of iCET, serving as a catalyst for collaboration between US and Indian startups in the defence sector.
    He mentioned that the introduction of Joint IMPACT Challenges was a distinctive initiative aimed at collaboratively advancing defence and aerospace co-development and co-production initiatives.
    “The incorporation of start-ups actively involved in pioneering solutions introduces a fresh dimension to the breadth and potency of this partnership,” he said.
    On the bilateral partnership in the aerospace and defence sectors, Giridhar Aramane said: “Our bilateral relationship is flourishing, with India increasingly turning to the United States for cutting-edge equipment and technology. The United States, in turn, sees India as a key partner in its Indo-Pacific strategy, leveraging India’s growing defence capabilities.”
    He also talked about the multilateral engagements where both the countries are stakeholders.
    The Defence Secretary underscored the success stories of India’s defence production, ranging from shipbuilding, including aircraft carriers, to the development of advanced weaponry such as Tejas multi-role fighter aircraft, and attack and utility combat helicopters that has got the attention of international buyers across the globe.
    The Defence Secretary called upon the India-US industry representatives and other stakeholders present in the Summit to further deepen the strategic bilateral partnership and harness the full potential of the cooperation.
    By leveraging our respective strengths and capabilities, India and the US can play a pivotal role in shaping the geopolitical landscape of the Indo-Pacific, promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region,” he said.
    The Defence Secretary participated in the Capstone session of the INDUS-X Summit where he was joined by INDOPACOM Commander Admiral John C Aquilino, Amb. Atul Keshap, President, USIBC with the session being moderated by Mr. Rexon Ryu, President, The Asia Group.
    The second edition of INDUS-X Summit was jointly organised by Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), Ministry of Defence, India, and US Department of Defense (DoD) on 20-21 February in New Delhi.
    The event was jointly coordinated by US-India Business Council (USIBC) and Society of India Defense Manufacturers (SIDM).
    The Summit emphasised the crucial role of technological innovation in defence within the broader context of the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership.

    Addingly , she said The lifeline of countless kitchens, LPG cylinder prices have soared to 1050 in recent years. This puts immense pressure on budgets, forcing families to cut back on gas usage, impacting health and hygiene.

The Prime Minister, who has remained silent on their plight, has failed to implement effective measures to control inflation over the past 10 years. Instead of providing subsidies or price controls on essential commodities, the central government has written off ₹10 lakh crore in bank loans for big industrialists in the last 10 years.

    RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 21:-– Principal Secretary Finance, Santosh Dattatreya Vaidya, today presided over a public outreach camp at Moughla block in Rajouri district.

    The camp witnessed significant turnout of residents from Moughla and adjoining parts who projected their issues and concerns seeking speedy redressal of the same.

    Several issues were brought to the notice of Principal Secretary during the event, which inter alia included construction of roads from Badgai to Sagoon, from GHSS Mougla to Lano Kheter and from Kanchi Morh to Dreari, augmentation of power infrastructure, installation of electricity poles, requirement of additional transformers, paucity of staff in educational and health institutions, dilapidated condition of roads, construction of bridge for Paltha in Treru, repair of road from Solki to Khabbar, expediting work on JJM schemes, sanctioning of 33 KVA Receiving Station for Terayth, inclusion of eligible left out beneficiaries under PMAY-G, sanctioning GDC for Mougla, renewal of gun licenses, forest clearance issues, providing an ambulance for Mougla, sanctioning adequate funds under TSP, Gujjar Hostel for Mougla, subdivision status to Mougla, creation of separate post of Munsif Judge, construction of building for mobile school, J&K Bank Branch at Gai Bas etc.

    The Principal Secretary inspected the stalls established by various departments, highlighting their respective schemes and initiatives being implemented for welfare and devlopment of common masses.

    Addressing the event, the Principal Secretary said that the primary objective of holding these public outreach camps is to bridge the gap between the public and the government. These camps serve as a platform to engage with the public directly, listen to their concerns and gather feedback on various government schemes and initiatives.

    “By establishing direct communication channels with the public, the government aims to create a more inclusive and participatory governance system. This enables the government to understand the needs and aspirations of the people and make the policy decisions as per needs and aspiration of public at large”, he maintained.

    The Principal Secretary assured the people that their concerns would be given careful consideration, and appropriate action would be taken to address them effectively.

    Regarding repair of old handpumps, the Principal Secretary directed the concerned officers from the Jal Shakti department to take effective measures to address this issue on priority.

    He also urged upon the public to take advantage of various government schemes, like Ayushman Bharat meant for their welfare. He emphasized the importance of government’s holistic agriculture development program in raising the living standards of farmers.

    The Principal Secretary highlighted the development projects and initiatives undertaken by the government in Jammu and Kashmir with emphasis on infrastructure, health, housing and education. He highlighted that the strenuous efforts of National Highways Authority of India and Public Works department have led to vast improvements in road connectivity and lowering of travel times in the region. The NHPC and Power Development department are executing several ambitious projects which will double the hydropower capacity by 2026, he added. He also stressed on the importance of scheduled maintenance and quality operations to ensure the durability and robustness of the projects. He emphasized on user fees and metering of electricity and water connections for ensuring quality operation and maintenance.

    The Principal Secretary highlighted the achievements of the government in tripling the tap water connections from about 5 lakh to over 14 lakh during 2018 to 2023, which has alleviated drudgery of a large number of households. He also stressed on the rapid upscaling of rural housing by Rural Development department under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

    The Principal Secretary further spoke about the transformative developments in the health sector, such as the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) Sehat scheme, which has provided fully free and comprehensive health cover to the entire population of J&K. He also stressed on the rapid upscaling of medical and paramedical education which will provide more medical professionals for the UT.

    He touched upon the major initiatives of Education and Social Welfare departments for early childhood education and nutrition. He highlighted the major initiatives in these areas under the Integrated Child Development Services programmes. He said that the UT government is committed towards accelerated and inclusive development and acknowledged the need for fostering tolerance and unity among the diverse streams of the society.

    Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the achievements registered under various schemes being implemented by different departments in the district including Ayushman Bharat, PMGSY, JJM, PM KISAN, etc. He also highlighted the status of grievances raised by the public during the recent public outreach camps. He informed that out of total 485 issues highlighted during the recent 07 public outreach camps, 248 grievances have been redressed.

    Among others present in the outreach camp were DDC Member Mougla, ADC Kalakote, ASP Kalakote, CPO, DMO, DSWO, CEO Education, CMO, LDM, Executive Engineer REW, Executive Engineer PDD Rajouri, Executive Engineer PMGSY Rajouri, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Nowshera, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Mechanical and other district and sectoral officers.

    RAJOURI FEBRUARY 21:-Under ‘Operation Pathshala’ aiming towards spreading awareness among students, Jammu & Kashmir police in Rajouris’ Nowshera sub division organised an awareness program at Government degree College Nowshera.

    Sub Divisional Police Officer Nowshera, Jaswant Singh presided over the event in presence of staff members of institution alongwith SHO Sumit Magotra.

    During this awareness program, Sub Divisional Police Officer Nowshera Jaswant Singh delivered lecture on cyber security and awareness among the students making them aware about cyber risks, precautions while using internet and social media handles and to remain safe from online frauds.

    The police officer informed the participating students that the cases of online frauds as well as cybercrime are increasing with each passing day and lack of awareness and proper education towards this new type of crime is a reason of this.

    He further appealed the students to remain fully aware about such kind of frauds and also to act as ambassadors of awareness in the society making every single citizen aware about this threat.

    The participants were also made aware that Jammu and Kashmir police has established a number of dedicated cyber crime units and any victim of such crime should immediately report the matter before these dedicated units for timely investigation and action.

    The police officer also appealed the participants to remain cautious towards banking frauds and not to share OTP, credit and debit card numbers, CVV code and other personal bank details with unknown callers.
