Scars of 2016 unrest will continue to haunt people of Kashmir for decades: Ghulam Ahmad Mir ‘Pellet horror in Pulwama, Shopian outcome of PDP’s surrender before BJP

Pulwama April 30, 2019. Asserting that the scars of 2016 unrest in #SouthKashmir will continue to haunt people of Kashmir for decades reminding them of Torture & Barbarism on the part of #PDP_BJP Govt, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President and Party Candidate GHULAM AHMAD MIR has said that people of Shopian & Pulwama should not trust PDP & other opportunist parties which are out to mislead people “again” for electoral benefits

This was stated by G.A. Mir while addressing meetings of #Pulwama, #Rajpura and #Pampore constituencies at town hall Pulwama and resolved to fight against the betrayal & political exploitation on the part of PDP, BJP, NC and others.

Addressing the gathering G.A. Mir said he believes people of Pulwama & Shopian after witnessing bloodshed, brutality and loot by the PDP led Govt should ensure defeat of PDP, NC and other opportunist Parties in the present elections and cautioned them about their falsehood and political gimmicks aiming to generate peoples support, the fact of the matter was, Shopian Pulwama has undergone tremendous damages due to misrule and mis-governance on the Part of previous PDP led Govt in the State, he said.

The Coalition Govt led by PDP could have averted the damages and loss of precious lives in twin districts of Shopian & Pulwama had they not surrendered their agenda before BJP RSS. It was also unfortunate on its part that after getting a good mandate from South Kashmir this party aligned with the BJP for the sake of power thereby ensuring inroads to communal and fascist forces led by BJP in Kashmir valley.

The people in Valley especially South Kashmir should not forget as to what the PDP had promised them in 2014 elections and what they (people) achieved after voting for this opportunist Party, people got pellets and bullets in response to their vote and support to PDP in 2014, Mir said

Pellet horror in Pulwama, Shopian was outcome of PDPs surrender before BJP, hundreds of bullet injured and pellet injured people were still under treatment in their homes and hospitals, scores of innocent civilians were killed, what was their fault, Mir questioned, their fault was only they were agitating against the barbarism, misrule and mis-governance, they were agitating against the bloodshed and innocent killings during PDP BJP rule, G.A.Mir said.

He said the PDP BJP presided over a darkest era of the State, now the PDP leadership was trying to generate support by showing tears in their eyes, which wont change the mood of the people, for the fact, they (people) have lost trust will not repeat the mistake they have committed in 2014, G.A. Mir said.

Describing the Congress Party as strong & unifying force in the Country & State Mir said the Party is capable enough to defeat the communal, fascist forces, which are hell bent upon to cause damages to special status of J&K, G.A. Mir said that people should also realize that Congress Party is set to form Govt at Centre, will do everything to bring the people of J&K out of morass, besides ensuring their safety and security, besides protecting Special Status granted to J&K, G.A. Mir added and appealed people of Shopian & Pulwama district to ensure his victory with a thumping majority.

Poll Body Decision On Complaints Against PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi Tomorrow

    New Delhi :

A decision on the alleged Model Code violations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, will be taken at a meeting tomorrow, the Election Commission told the media today. The crucial meeting will be held as the Supreme Court hears a Congress appeal to direct the commission to speed up the decision on poll code violations by PM Modi and Amit Shah.

Asked about the court hearing, Chandra Bhushan Kumar, the Deputy Election Commissioner, said, “This meeting to decide on these leaders’ violations was fixed earlier. We can’t comment on tomorrow’s court hearing”.

The Prime Minister was accused of violating the Model Code for his references to the Pulwama and Balakot air strikes during election campaign, which has been banned by the Commission.

Sources earlier told NDTV that the matter was under consideration and the Commission would arrive at a decision before the elections end.

Another complaint is pending with the Commission for the Prime Minister’s mini roadshow and speech in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, when he went there to vote last week. The Commission had sought a report on the matter from the Chief Election Officer of Gujarat.

The officials were also examining the complaint against BJP chief Amit Shah for dubbing the armed forces “Modi Sena” – a remark that army officers had objected to and wrote to the defence ministry.

The BJP had complained against Rahul Gandhi for his “chowkidar chor hai” slogan.

The election panel has been active after it was pulled up by the Supreme Court earlier this month over allegations of inaction in cases of Model Code violation.

Since then, a number of political leaders — including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union minister Maneka Gandhi, Mayawati, Samajwadi Party’s Azam Khan and Congress’s Navjot Sidhu – were handed temporary bans from campaigning.

But contending that the Election Commission had not acted on the party’s complaints against PM Modi and Amit Shah for three weeks, the Congress had asked the top court this morning for a direction within 24 hours.

In her appeal, Congress lawmaker Sushmita Dev had said PM Modi and Mr Shah used “hate speech” at rallies to polarise voters, and referred to the operations by the armed forces in their “political propaganda” despite the poll body’s ban.

Last month, in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack and the air strikes at Pakistan’s Balakot, the Commission had categorically told political parties not to refer to the armed forces in election campaigns.

A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said it will hear the Congress plea on Tuesday. PTI
