Can understand the pain and suffering of Pulwama residents:Omar Abdullah* Says PDP responsible for the plight of Pulwama residents*

Pulwama, May 01: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that the party is privy to the anger and despair that is writ large on the face of people in Pulwama, asking the people to vote in favor of NC to make New Delhi accountable what they did during last five years.

Addressing a public meet at party headquarters Mujahid Manzil in Pulwama, Party vice president said that little did the people of Pulwama know that those who they had voted for will exploit their votes to grind their own axe and to wield the power. “The people of Pulwama came out in large numbers to cast their votes in 2014 elections to secure better future for their children, for development. However nothing of that sort happened, on the contrary we see gloom writ large on the faces of the people of Pulwama.

The party, who you voted for, berated and belittled your mandate to ascend the altar of power. The pluralistic and vivacious spirit of Pulwama was shattered by CASO’s, crackdowns, blinding, arrests, and innumerable other torments. Now an opportunity is tapping your door, you have to utilize it to show your rage to PDP for letting lose the mammoth of destruction in Pulwama by hobnobbing with BJP. You have to utilize this opportunity and not let it go un-utilized without expressing your anger on PDP through the use of ballot,” he said.

Omar while appreciating the people of Pulwama for upholding the spirit of inter communal camaraderie and tolerance said, “People of Pulwama never allowed them get swayed by communal strife. The sanctimonious disposition of the people of Pulwama was exhibited at various instances be it re-construction of a temple or rescuing the Yatris,” he said.

Masoodi said, “In the ensuing elections, we have to make it a point to punish PDP for depriving the people of Pulwama of peace, prosperity. This time you have to make a head way in sending a right person to Delhi who could make public the ordeal that the people of Pulwama are facing since 2014.

Masoodi sahib has it all what it takes to be a good representative; he has no personal axe to grind. On sixth of May you should come out and vote for him. This shall be the first step towards bring to a halt all the miseries unleashed on you by former BJP-PDP government,” adding, “ What peace loving people of Pulwama had to go through after 2014 is a direct consequence of PDPs shameful embrace with BJP.

Now it is the time to admonish PDP was pushing unleashing torments on the people. All the promises, they made during the election trail of 2014 turned out to be a damp squib. They had sought your votes at the pretext of keeping BJP out, but what followed is history. They shamelessly clubbed with the same BJP for the lust of power. The much touted AOA didn’t see the light of day.”

Among others provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, retired justice Hasnain Masoodi, senior leaders Mir Saifullah, Basharat Bhukhari, GN Ratanpuri, Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Mir, Tanvir Sadiq, Shammi Oberoi, Rafiq Ahmad Shah, Rafiq Ahmad Khan, Dr Muhammad Shafi, Javaid Rahim Bhat and Master Abdul Aziz also addressed the people and sought support for party’s parliamentary candidate for Anantnag constituency.“`

Khaniyar Family Protests Death Of Kin Due To ‘Uncaring’ Doctors’ AT SMHS* People Urge Govt To Hold Doctors Accountable, Ensure They’re Punctual

    Rehan Showkat

Srinagar, April 30 (GNS): A family from Khanyar here on Tuesday protested in SMHS hospital, alleging death of their kin due to “negligence by doctors”.

The family said that from the last two days not a single doctor visited the patient, Abdul Ahad Guru (79).

“We visited the concerned senior doctor and the CMO, imploring them that the condition of our patient is deteriorating and kindly look into it. They told us that a doctor will visit him soon,” a family member said, adding, no doctor came even there was no PG in the ward.

“A nurse came later and gave him some injection despite our requests not to administer such high dose medicine keeping in view the condition of the patient,” the family member said.

Within minutes, he said, the same nurse told the family to take the patient to the emergency unit as his condition further deteriorated. “In the emergency ward, we were directed to conduct ECG and as soon as the doctor there perused it, he informed us that our beloved is no more.”

The family later staged a protest and even refused to take body home, demanding action against the concerned doctors and also sought report as regards the cause of death. Meanwhile, the hospital authorities handed over a certificate regarding the cause of death to them, showing it to be due to “cardio pulmonary arrest”.

While the family was protesting, a number of people, who were attending other patients, joined them and demanded some accountability on part of the doctors.

“The doctors come as they wish without much care towards the patients. They are only concerned about private practice,” they said.

Most of the senior doctors, they said, come late in the morning and leave much earlier than the scheduled duty so as to reach their private clinics.

Had “there been accountability, the patients would not have suffered nor would there be agony to the attendants,” they said, adding, “The patients are treated as second class citizens and all this is because nobody to hold the doctors accountable especially poor.”

Medical superintendent SHMS hospital Dr. Nazir Hussain Chowdhary said that family should file a written complaint regarding the incident. (GNS)

Traffic to ply from Poonch to Srinagar on Wednesday:_ Chief Engineer

Poonch/Srinagar, Apr 30: Authorities on Tuesday said the historic Mughal road-connecting Shopian with twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri will be reopened for traffic on Wednesday (tomorrow).

Locals told GNS that the Mughal road has been cleared from the snow a fortnight ago and still awaits orders from the administration for restoration. They alleged that the police are allowing traffic during night hours for those carrying out illegal business.

The snow clearance operations on the 84-kilometer-long road completed on March 15 and at that time, authorities assured it will take 20 days to restore the traffic. But so far, more than a week passed against the stipulated time, but the road has not been restored so far, locals said.

Chief Engineer Mughal Road Mohammad Ashraf Bhat told GNS that one-way traffic will be restored on the thoroughfare tomorrow.

He said that traffic will be allowed from Poonch towards Srinagar on Wednesday (tomorrow).

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch Ramesh Kumar Angral told GNS that the vehicles have to cross Pir Ki Gali between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm and no vehicle shall be allowed beyond the time stipulations.

The measures have been taken in view of the slippery road conditions of the road, SSP said.

Pertinently, the road was closed on January 1, this year following heavy snowfall in the region. (GNS) Global News Service
