Highest institution of JK becoming a joke: PDP hits out at GovernorDon’t act as agent of any political political party, uphold sanctity of your post’

Srinagar Feb 7 2019S:-enior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammad Sartaj Madani has expressed serious concern over the remarks made by the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, terming it worrisome that the “highest institution of the state is now becoming a mere joke.”

Madni said that it is regrettable that since the day Governor Malik assumed office in the state, he goes to every TV channel and every newspaper and apparently without verifying facts, makes general comments.

“Governor’s post is constitutional and has its own dignity and it is expected from a governor that he or she performs impartially without fear and favour. However, what we are seeing in Jammu and Kashmir for the past few months is a clear bias shown by the Raj Bhavan,” said Madni, in a statement.
The PDP leader added that going by the previous statements of Governor Malik it seems that he is grudging the people of Kashmir even having a house and according to him anybody who is owning a two-storey house in Kashmir has to be a thief.
“The height is that now the Governor is making political statements and trying to lure people towards a particular political party. Such actions will lead the state towards an anarchy,” Madni said.
He maintained further the instead of interfering unnecessarily in politics, Governor Malik should concentrate on providing basic amenities to the people who at present have been left in lurch with dearth of water and electricity taking toll in entire Kashmir Valley. “If he keeps indulging himself in these theatrics, time is near when the credibility of this highest post will get eroded and the Raj Bhavan will become a joke for people of the state as well as of the country,” Madni said.
He added that it has been the prime agenda of the PDP that the muscular approach will not take the state anywhere as this has been tried for many decades and hasn’t yielded any positive outcome.
Madni that it is unfortunate that some people still believe in the efficacy of these methods and are trying to repeat the old mistakes which will be meaningless and will prove counter productive. “Instead of turning the entire state into a theatre of war, there is a need to shun the repressive methods being employed against the people of Kashmir with death and violence becoming rampant with each passing day,” Madni said.
The PDP leader added that in order to get the state out of the vicious cycle of violence, PDP has been demanding a comprehensive dialogue process with all stake holders including Hurriyat, Pakistan and militant leadership.
“It is must for the success of a result oriented dialogue that all the parties are invited on the table and a lasting solution to the decades old dispute is made possible. PDP was founded with this sole objective to make strenuous efforts for the Kashmir resolution and make peace permanent in the violence infested state,” said Madni.

  • Shah Faesal’s resignation not yet accepted by govt* Shah Faesal had submitted his resignation on January 4

Shah Faesal’s resignation not yet accepted by govt* Shah Faesal had submitted his resignation on January 4

February 6, Jammu: The government has not accepted the resignation of IAS officer Shah Faesal even after more than a month since he quit the civil services to join politics, according to highly placed sources in the government.

Faesal, the 2010 IAS topper, had submitted his resignation on January 4 without detailing the reasons.
The J&K Government’s website carrying the details of the in-service IAS officers lists Faesal at No. 49 (as on February 5), showing him as “pursuing a mid-career master’s programme in public administration at Edward S Mason Harvard University”.
In the normal course, his resignation should have been accepted by now as he has declared himself unshackled by the service rules that could have prevented him from airing his views, but there is no word about his resignation having been accepted.
Sources in the government said they had no problems in his joining the politics as it was his wish.
Faesal had announced his plunge into the politics on January 9, claiming that he was doing so to protest the “unabated killings in Kashmir, marginalisation of Muslims in India and the undermining of the institutions like NIA, CBI and RBI”.
In his media interviews and an aggressive campaign on the social media, he came out as a critical voice against the system. One of his salvos fired on January 28 was that the “time has come for the Kashmir resolution”.
A highly placed source said the delay in acceptance of his resignation could be because an inquiry was going on against him for his unacceptable remarks made on the social media a few months ago. It is because, the source said, if his resignation was accepted, he would be off the hook and no action could be taken against him.
The politically savvy class, however, said the government would prefer not to take any action against Faesal to avoid precipitating the matter and make him a hero. A top source in the government told The Tribune that his resignation would be accepted and remarked: “If someone wants to become a leader, why should we stop him (from doing so).” TNS
