DC Rajouri conducts a whirlwind tour of forward LoC areas * Dozens of meetings held in Kalal, Bajnowa, Jhanghar, Baba Khori, Phukharni Sectors_ Inspection of Border Bunkers conducted_
Rajouri Feb.22: Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today visited forward areas of LoC in Nowshera and Sunderbani sector to take the first-hand appraisal from local populace in view of frequent cease fire violations and shelling in past few days.
The DC was accompanied by senior superintendent of police, Yougal Manhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nowshera Vinod Bhel, Executive engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD, Assistant Director FCS& CA, Mohd Mukhtar, Tehsildar Nowshera, Block Development officer Nowshera, Sheetal Sharma, ARTO Neeraj Sharma, and inspector MVD Rajeev Bhasin.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the affected people from cross border shelling.The Deputy Commissioner was apprised of several issues like immediate constructions of new individual and community bunkers, proper rehabilitation of border people who are forced to leave their house during cease fire violations and have to stay at relief centres. They also demanded deputation of special veterinary doctors for treatment of injured livestock. In this regard, decision has been taken to operate Veterinary sub centre on temporary basis. Regarding construction of bunkers, Deputy Commissioner informed that 145 community and individual bunkers in Nowshera region and 20 more in Sunderbani are at different phases of execution.
Moreover, DDC also took the first-hand appraisal of the measures being put in place to provide necessary help to the affected people. He also directed the officers to station at headquarters to redress the problems of the people and ensure the provision of all the basic amenities so that the people do not face any hardship. Deputy Commissioner also inquired about the the contingency plan for setting up of the relief centres if required in wake of any further intensification along the LoC.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner also visited the construction sites of bunkers along LoC being executed by the PWD in the areas which experienced repeatedly ceasefire violation. These Bunkers include the community as well as individual and the concerned executing agency was directed to speed up the work for early completion of bunkers.
It is pertinent to mention here that 23 villages in Nowshera are affected during the cross border shelling out of which 12 are severely affected. In Sunderbani 6 villages are vulnerable.

Sajjad Iqbal hailed Union cabinet decision on reservation in Promotion
KOTRANKA : Sajjad Iqbal a social activist and unemployed youth president of kotranka hailed the Union cabinet decision on reservation in promotion , As Union cabinet has given its nod to 10 percent quota for poor among the general categories in Jammu and Kashmir and also approved the provision for SC/ST reservation in promotion in government jobs in the state.State administrative Council headed by State Governor SP Malik (SAC) has already approved reservation for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Reservation in Promotion .
Sajjad Iqbal thanked center government for this decision as these people were eagerly waiting for this decision and it’s a big relief to people belongs to ST/SC. This was long pending demand of these peoples.
The Union Cabinet had in January this year took the decision to provide for 10 per cent quota for people belonging to ‘unreserved categories’, with an annual income limit of Rs 8 lakh and land-holding ceiling of about five acres.
He also appealed governor to revoke inter district recruitment this ban is increasing unemployment in state. -
One dead, two injured after vehicle hit by landslide in Poonch*(Mandi)

Poonch(Mandi): A passenger died and two others were critically injured after a landslide struck a village in Mandi area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
An official said that incessant rains triggered a landslide in Bayila village on Thursday.
He said a vehicle of a private telecommunication company came under the debris of the landslide, resulting into death of one person and serious injuries to two others.
The deceased was identified as Makhan Singh while the injured identified as Anjum Pervez Khan of Surankote and Deepak Singh of RS Pura were shifted to Mandi hospital for treatment.

DDC Rajouri holds meet with municipal councillors of District Rajouri* 25 lacs released for street lighting in municipalities_ Instructions issued for DPR preparation for repair/upgradation works of Lanes/Drains in 5 Municipalities
Rajouri,Feb.21:District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today held a meeting with the councillors of all the municipal committee Rajouri with an aim to chalk out joint efforts to carry out development projects in the town area.
Meeting was attended by the Presidents and Vice Presidents from five municipal committee of District Rajouri. Various senior Officers also attended the meeting.Ward councillors from MC Rajouri were also present.
Threadbare discussion were held on various issues in this meeting.councillors put forth a number of issues which require urgent attention. These included traffic decongestion in town, installation of new street lights, removal of illegal encroachment from main roads and streets, laying of new tiles and repairing of old ones, installation of new high mast lights near Abdullah bridge, repairing of existing high mast lights and completion of jogging pathway between Salani bridge and Doodha Dari temple,construction of toilet complexes at different locations and agumentation of drinking water in almost all the municipalities.
They also raised issue of water and power shortage in old town area which is affecting normal life of public.The president and the councillors of Rajouri demanded for the survey of the the town,Survey for the left out beneficries of Ayushman Bharat,Renovation of town hall and identification of dumping sites also discussed.
While addressing the meeting, DDC Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad said that newly elected councillors of Municipal Committees have a vital role to play in development of town and to solve basic burning issues. DDC advised all the councillors who were present in the meeting to conduct a cleanliness derive by involving masses.He assured that district administration will extend all possible help to municipal authorities in solving the mentioned issues.
DDC also advised for the modern urban planning for the development of the town. He further directed for the preparation of DPRs for repairing of Lanes/Drains in all Municipalities. For installation of street light DDC released 25 lacs.
DDC Rajouri also said that both administration and municipal committee need to work jointly to ensure that government sponsored scheme aimed to housing for all is implemented in letter and spirit.Every municipality will have toilet complexes for both male and female and he will soon review the development in this regard.

SFCAC Shopian Approves 47 Cases for Sponsorship
SHOPIAN FEBRUARY 20:_The Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee, Shopian, in its second meeting, approved 47 cases for sponsorship under ‘Family based Non-Institutional Care’ component of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), thus taking total number of approved cases to 58. Pertinently the committee had already approved 11 such cases in it’s first meeting.
Present in the meeting were Mohammad Shafait, District Child Protection Officer (Chairperson SFCAC), Muzaffar Gaffar, Chairperson CWC (Member SFCAC), Incharge PO-NIC Shiekh Asifa (Member SFCAC) and Khurshid Yousaf, District Coordinator Human Welfare Voluntary Organisation (Member SFCAC).
The 47 approved cases include 2 cases of double orphan children (both parents not alive), 2 case where one or both of the parents are suffering from life threatening diseases, 37 cases of single orphan children (Either father or mother is not alive, 3 cases where parents are divorced and 14 cases where income of the family is less than Rs. 2000/- per month.
Giving details DCPO said these approved cases will be referred to State Level Selection-Cum-Oversight Committee (SCOC) for final sanction before release of payment. He said the quantum of sponsorship is Rs. 2000/= and the duration of sponsorship support will be decided on case to case basis by SFCAC and will not exceed three years except under exceptional circumstances.

Khalil Takes Over as BDO Mendhar, Balakote*
MENDHAR FEBRUARY 20 :–Khalil ur Rehman, a 2015 batch KAS Officer the other day assumed the charge of Block Development Officer Mendhar with additional charge of Balakote Block.
After a tenure of two years as Functional Manager at District Industries Centre Rajouri, Khalil was allotted Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department by an order of General Administration Department and further posted as BDO Mendhar with additional charge of Balakote.
Soon after assuming the charge he held interaction with office staff and stressed stressed upon them to adopt a public friendly attitude and urged them to work dedicatedly while maintaining work ethics, in the larger interest of public. He said that as a team, his office will endeavour for transparent implementation of various schemes of the department.

Those attacking Kashmiris are biggest terrorists: Sajad Lone
Srinagar, Feb 20: :-Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday said those who attacked and intimidated Kashmiris are the biggest terrorists.
“The goons who attacked the Kashmiris are the biggest terrorists. And they are cowards,” Lone tweeted.
He said these goons are thrashing helpless Kashmiris.Lone had also flayed state authorities for being lenient on mobsters in Jammu.
“If PSA is slapped on stone-pelters in Kashmir, why it is not being used in Jammu against those pelting stones on Kashmiris,” he had said.Lone himself had been at forefront of ensuring safety and security of students studying outside JK.

New Delhi ,February 20, :-Prime Minister Narindar Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman on Wednesday explored ways to further deepen strategic ties, in talks taking place in the backdrop of India’s escalating tension with Pakistan following the Pulwama attack.
The crown prince arrived here on a less than 30-hour visit Tuesday night, a day after concluding his high-profile tour of Pakistan where he said dialogue was the only way to resolve “outstanding issues” between India and Pakistan.
In a special gesture, Modi received Salman at the airport here, signifying the importance India attaches to the visit by the leader of the Gulf nation.
The joint statement said the Saudi crown prince stressed that dialogue is the only way to ensure peace and stability in the region to resolve “outstanding issues” between India and Pakistan.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir said in Islamabad that Riyadh will try to “de-escalate” tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Pulwama attack.
After he was given a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday, the crown prince talked about historical linkages between the two countries and stressed on expanding the ties further.
“The relationship between India and Saudi Arabia is in our DNA….Today, we want to be ensured that the relationship is maintained and improved for sake of both the countries and with the leadership of President and the Prime Minister, we can create good things for both the countries,” he told reporters.
He also talked about the contribution of lakhs of Indians in the overall development of Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met the crown prince and discussed ways to add further momentum to the strategic ties between the two nations besides deepening engagement in areas of trade and investment.
“EAM @SushmaSwaraj called on HRH Crown Prince of #SaudiArabia Mohammed Bin Salman. Discussed adding momentum to strategic dimension of our relationship in various fields – from trade & investment to defence & security, and regional cooperation,” the External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson tweeted. -
PDP delegation visits Uttarakhand, says ‘satisfied’ over safety of Kashmiri students
February 20, Press Trust of IndiaDehradunA delegation of Peoples Democratic Party from Jammu and Kashmir visited Uttarakhand for a first-hand assessment of the situation here following alleged harassment of Kashmiri students after the recent Fidayeen attack in Pulwama.The delegation consisting of Rajya Sabha member Faiyaz Ahmed Mir, former MLA Aijaz Ahmed Mir and other party leaders reached here Tuesday to assess the situation, Inspector General of Police (Garhwal) Ajay Rautela told PTI.”The delegation interacted with Kashmiri students studying in different institutions here and returned after expressing satisfaction over their safety,” he said.The PDP leaders also took some of the students along with them who expressed a desire to go home with their colleges being closed, the IG said.The visit followed after reports about alleged harassment of Kashmiri students in Uttarakhand in the wake of the Pulwama attack began doing the rounds on the social media, the IG said.However, they had a first-hand assessment of the situation in consultation with the Kashmiri students themselves and have returned perfectly satisfied,” Rautela said.
