    Mehbooba In SMHS, Meets Youth Beaten By Army Officer:

    Srinagar::Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday evening visited SMHS hospital here to inquire about the condition of a Pulwama youth who was grievously injured after allegedly beaten by an army officer whom she identified as Major Shukla.

    The injured youth was identified as Tawseef Ahmad, 20, son of Ghulam Ahmad a resident of Achgoaza Pulwama who was allegedly beaten by the army at 44 RR Camp Shadimarg in Pulwama.

    Mehbooba while talking to reporters said, “if this is the condition of someone whose brother is working with the army and whose father has already been killed by militants, what can happen to others.”

    Mehbooba demands investigation and actions from the governor and army top brass.

    Mehbooba said Kashmir issue is a political issue and it cannot be resolved through force. “This crucial issue can be resolved only through political means,” she said while talking to the reporters at SMHS.

    Jammu, Feb 4: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) migrant cell on Monday condoled the demise of  maternal uncle of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti.

    Mohd. Shafi Farooqi, elder brother of PDP senior leader Mohammad Sartaj Madni  and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti’s material uncle breathed his last on Saturday at SKIMS, Srinagar where he was undergoing treatment for the past few days.

    According to the party spokesman, party’s migrant cell held a condolence meet in which tributes were paid to the departed and heartfelt condolences were offered to Begum Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti, Sartaj Madni and other members of the bereaved family.

    PDP’s migrant cell leaders Ramesh Koul, Sunil. Bhat, R.K Pardesi, PN Zutshi, Anuji Jagti, Ramesh Ji Jagti, Bansilal Jagti,  Chaman Lal Dhar, Bimal Ji Wantoo,  Dilip Ji Purkhoo and several others attended the condolence meet.

    Rajouri Feb.04: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammed Aijaz Asad,numerous teams conducted inspection of 147 schools across Rajouri in one go.

    The teams comprise of Additional Deputy Commissioners,
    Tehsildars and Naib tehsildars conducted the inspection of 147 schools in all the tehsils simultaneously.

    The teams inspected implementation of directions issued by Deputy Commissioner including maintenance of movement register, inspection register, leave account, sanitation and attendance of teacher and students.

    The surprise inspection was conducted at 10:00 am across the district.A consolidated report by all the Executive Magistrates from all Tehsils has been submitted to Deputy Commissioner for examination and action under rules, sources said.

    Sources said that during inspection of 147 schools ,there are 1265 employees,out of which 11 employees were found absent from duty during inspection while as many as 181 employees were found on leave.
    Apart from this 48 employees were found on deputation or on duty and one school found locked at the time of inspection.

    DDC said“The purpose of conducting inspection was to streamline the administration and functioning of schools in a transparent and accountable manner.” When the teams interacting with teachers , they called them for maintaining of punctuality, regularity and adherence of school timing so that students don’t suffered any more.
    This was second major simultaneous inspection after a similar exercise conducted for Health centers. DDC maintained that such similar inspection will be conducted in near future also.

  • Awareness camp on OSC scheme held in Rajouri

     

    Rajouri :-An awareness programme on One-Stop Centers (OSC) scheme intended to support women affected by violence in private and public spaces was held at High School Gurdan Bala, which is in far-flung area of District Rajouri, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad.

    According to an official, the aim of the camp was to impart education to students regarding women rights and the role of OSC in securing and promoting those rights.

    On the occasion, speakers said women face physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race, and culture.

    “Such women will be facilitated with support and redressal at OSCs,” they added

    Speaking on the occasion, Nitu Sharma said the women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse will be facilitated with support and redressal at OSC. She said the aggrieved women facing any kind of violence due to attempted sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, honour related crimes, acid attacks or witch-hunting can reached out to OSC for redress. Girl students were also updated about stringent laws for protection against domestic violence, harassment at workplaces, trafficking, eve teasing, stalking etc.
    She also informed that emergency response and rescue response, medicare, legal aid and counselling, psycho-social counselling, assistance to women in lodging FIR and shelter are a few among other services being provided to distressed women at OSC.

    The people can also registered their complaints on 181.

    Neha Suri, Counsellor OSC and Suksham Sharma, Case Worker also threw light on the functioning of OSC Rajouri and they also made students aware in their respective area of expertise.

    Rajouri Feb 04I:- Inefforts to stand with the retired police personals as well as with the family of those police personals who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, teams of police visited the house of several martyrs across the district while a retired personals meet was held at Kalakote.

    The meeting with retired police personals was held at Kalakote on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Yougal Manhas and was chaired by SHO Kalakote Mustaj Ahmed.

    Several retired police personals from across the area took part in this meeting wherein threadbare discussion was held on various issues.

    Similarly, a team of police headed by SHO Thanamandi Nazir Ahmed Dar visited the house of martyr cop Shoket Hussain resident of Palangarh village. Brave cop had attained martyrdom on 23/09/2004.
    The Police team met with the family members and discussed several issues with them and inculcated the feeling of oneness between them and police department.

    Along with this, team of Kalakote police station headed by SHO Mustaj Ahmed visited the house of martyr SPO Mohammad Khan resident of Kothian who sacrificed his life in the line of duty on 02-02-2009.

    Police team and family members of martyr held discussion on various issues in a cordial atmosphere and family was assured that every possible help will be made to them by the department.

    Team of Darhal police station headed by SHO Habib Pathan also held a meeting with the family of martyr SPO Khadam Hussain resident of Palyarni and managed to solve the problem of water shortage in the house after intervention by district police office.

    Darhal February 4 :-A monthly meeting of Congress party was organized at Darhal under the leadership of senior Congress leader Mohd Iqbal Malik. The meeting was attended by large no of Congress activists besides by many locals of the region. Iqbal Malik accused Zulafkar Chowdhary of making people fool by beating drums of 850 Crores where ground work on seems nowhere.

    He further said that Medical College & Anas Project were sanctioned by previous government of Congress and now former MLA is taking it’s credit, hence keeping people in ignorance.

    Jammu, February 03:-: Rashtriya Volunteer Youth Organization an NGO working for the welfare of underprivileged people and border dwellers today organised a charity program there in Ghani Dhrati Panchayat Halqa of border town Mendhar wherein the NGO functionaries along with special invitee and Chief Guest Dr Shazad Malik renowned academician distributed Cooking gas kits and stationery items amongst the widows and students belonging to underprivileged class.

    On this occassion while addressing the gathering Dr Shazad appreciated the efforts of Sardar Gurdeep Singh Saraf and RK Bittta senior members of the NGO for their gesture in reaching to the most vulnerable section of the society in border town and providing sort of succor to them.
    Dr. Shazad in his address also thanked Local Panchayat members including Sarpanch of Ghani Dhrati Panchayat and GaganDeep Kour, Ward Panch for hosting such event. He said though it is the duty of the government to provide aid and relief to the needy and poor but even the responsible citizens should also share this burden of the government.
