    Ramzan gift’: NHAI imposes hefty toll tax on Kashmir Highway

    Srinagar, May 7, CNS: Chaos and confusion prevailed on Kashmir Highway after commuters refused to pay what they termed as ‘unreasonable’ rate charged by National Highways Authority Of India as toll tax near Kachkoot on Srinagar-Jammu Highway.

    Hundreds of vehicles got stranded near Kachkoot Fee (toll) plaza after they were stopped there, asked to pay Rs 85 as toll tax. Majority of the commuters objected to the order and refused to pay the tax while some of the commuters raised anti-government slogan, accusing government of India of harassing people of Kashmir on the one or the other pre-text.

    Unaware about the development that National Highways Authority Of India has erected a toll plaza near Kachkoot, commuters on Tuesday morning came to know that they have to pay hefty sum as tax for their movement on Highway. “This is the Ramzan gift for us from Government of India that is adopting all tactics to harass us and cripple our economy,” said a commuter to news agency CNS.

    Another commuter said that all the decisions being taken in Kashmir are anti-people. “An active anti-Kashmir lobby ruling the roost is seeking pleasure from harassment of people of Kashmir. First, it was highway ban and now imposition of heavy tax. This is sheer injustice towards us,” he said.

    Kashmir economy is already in doldrums. The highway ban in force has affected business community badly. “One fails to understand how can one manage to pay Rs 170 for his to and fro journey on daily basis when he may not earn more than that a single day.”

    An official from National Highways Authority Of India said that they are only following the directions from the top. “We have been asked to collect Rs 85 for single journey and Rs 70 for to and fro travel and we are doing that, despite strong objection from the local population.” (CNS)

    Reasi, May 7 (GNS): In a sharp contrast to set educational norms and standards, authorities from a government-run school in frontier Reasi district have allegedly made around two dozen students to carry rice sack bags on shoulders.

    Reports reaching GNS said the students of Government Middle School Bandh falling under sub-division Mohre of Chassana zone in Reasi district were made to carry the rice sack bags, apparently for mid-day meals, from a long distance.

    The locals caught the scenes on camera and according to them, around twenty students were carrying the load on bare shoulders while accompanied by a teacher, whose identity is yet to be known.

    Demanding strict action against the school administration, the agitated people said if they (school administration) get paid for any labour work at the school why they make these innocent students to do so.

    The school administration is putting the future of these students on stake. We demand authorities to take prompt action in this regard, the locals said.

    When this correspondent raised the issue with Deputy Commissioner Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib, she said, “It is totally wrong to make the students work.”

    She said no compromise should be made with respect to the education.

    An enquiry will be called into the matter and necessary action will be taken against those involved, Chib added. (GNS Kashmir)

    SRINAGAR, MAY 07 – Advisor to the Governor, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, held an interactive meeting with a group of College Principals of Kashmir Division, here today.

    Secretary Higher Education, Mr. Talat Parvez Rohella and Director Colleges, Prof. Yasin Khan were also present on the occasion.

    In his interaction, Ganai, who is also Advisor in-charge Education Department, emphasized upon improving the quality of teaching and learning outcomes to make the students nationally and internationally competitive. He also stressed on improving the quality of teaching of Science and Mathematics and directed that faculty improvement of Higher Education Department should primarily focus on building capacities of the teachers across all subjects, especially Science and Maths.

    The Advisor also emphasized upon enforcing punctuality both among students and the staff. He also laid stress on extra-curricular activities in colleges, publication of college magazines and involvement of the alumni as well as the retired Faculty members in college activities including guest lectures.

    Secretary Higher Education informed the Advisor that many programmes connected to e-learning are in the offing and that he is in consultation with the University of Kashmir and the College Principals for initiating a number of steps in the direction of e-learning. He also informed that the department will soon start student exchange programme to give appropriate exposure to the students in the colleges at the national level.

    The Advisor impressed upon the Secretary Higher Education to take necessary steps for starting the newly-sanctioned colleges and making DPRs for construction of buildings of these Colleges.

    The Principals assured the Advisor that they will work hard in the interest of the student community so that the students are able to compete at all levels, both nationally and globally.

    Three youth hailing from south Kashmir’s Shopian district were detained by the police after they were moving “suspiciously” in a village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.

    A source said the youth – all residents of Imam Sahib tehsil of Shopian – were detained last evening from Bareri village of Nowshera following a complaint by the locals.

    He said a police team from Nowshera police station rushed to the village after the locals informed them that the youth were moving suspiciously.

    “All three youth were detained on the spot and taken to Nowshera police station,” said the source.

    Senior superintendent of police Rajouri, Yougal Manhas confirmed andasaid that the youth are being questioned and more details will be shared later.`

    JAMMU: In a shocking incident, a class 5 student of Army School, Kaluchak was on Monday allegedly kidnapped by some unidentified men in Kaluchak area of Bari Brahmana, district Samba.
    Confirming the incident, police said a complaint was lodged by a retired (Captain) Army man namely Joginder Sharma that his son, Anirudh Sharma studying in Class 5 of Army School, Kaluchak has been kidnapped by some unidentified men while he was returning from the school. He said some passersby also saw the boy being kidnapped in a red coloured van.
    “In exchange for him, the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs one Crore on telephone,” police said as told by the father.
    Following the complaint, police has registered an FIR and started investigations. Police, however, added that four police teams led by SDPO DySP Sunil Kesar have been constituted and rushed to Punjab, Delhi, Kashmir and Jammu.
    Meanwhile, police is also ascertaining the identity of the kidnappers by scrutinising call details of Joginder Sharma. An alert has also been sounded in all the respective police stations. Besides, police has also flashed the details of the kidnapped boy to police checkpoints in Punjab.
    “There are reports that the complainant had verbal duel with someone in Delhi. He has reportedly been detained by one of the police teams, rushed to the national capital,” sources added.
    They further said that the father had conversation with the kidnappers while the police has kept surveillance on the family as well, adding, “The reason behind kidnapping, as per the complainant is not known as he claimed that he has no rivalry with anyone.”
    Sources added that while analyzing the call details, two persons–one army personnel and another from Punjab have come on the police scanner. The picture of the abducted boy has been released for public assistance.

    حضرت امیر معاویہؓ حضورؐ کی خدمت میں بیٹھے ہیں، ایک شہزادہ آکر کہتا ہے یا رسول اللّٰہؐ! میں عیسائیوں کا شہزادہ ہوں، غستان کی ریاست سے آیا ہوں۔ میرا باپ بادشاہ ہے، میں نے تورات اور انجیل میں اپنے راہیوں اور پادریوں سے سنا ہے کہ آپ آخرالزمان نبی ہے، میں اسی علاقے میں آیا تھا تو میں زیارت کیلیے آگیا۔ وہ چلنے لگا تو کہنے لگا یا رسول اللّٰہؐ! میں اگر تحفہ اور ہدیہ آپؐ کو دوں تو آپؐ قبول کرینگے.حضورؐ نے فرمایا ضرور میں تیرا تحفہ قبول کرونگا۔ اب وہ رخصت ہوتا ہے تو کہتا ہے میرا سامان چھ میل کی فاصلے پر ایک جگہ پڑا ہے۔ آپؐ کسی خادم کو میرے ساتھ بیجھ دیں جو ہدیہ لے آئےحضورؐ کے خصوصی خدام میں حضرت انسؓ کا نام مشہور ہے یا حضرت زیدؓ کا نام مشہور ہے، لیکن اس وقت ان دونوں میں کوئ نہیں تھا۔ حضرت معاویہؓ حضورؐ کی خدمت میں بیٹھے تھے اور ان کی عمر 24 سال تھی۔حضورؐ نے فرمایا معاویہ! جاؤ اس عیسائ شہزادے کے ساتھ جاؤ ، جو چیز تمہیں دے لے آؤ ۔ حضرت معاویہؓ اس شہزادے کیساتھ چل پڑے، یہ واقعہ تطہیرالجنان میں بڑی تفصیل کیساتھ لکھاہے۔
    حضرت معاویہؓ جب چلے حضورؐ کا حکم تھا تو وہ چل پڑے ، جوتا ان کا دوسری طرف پڑا تھا مسجد میں جوتا نہیں پہنا کہ حضورؐ کا حکم ہے چلو اور یہ شہزادہ جارہا ہے ، میں اس کے ساتھ چلوں اب شہزادہ مسجد سے باہر نکلا، حضرت معاویہؓ بھی نکلے عرب کی گرمی، دھوپ ہے، ریت ہے، صحرا ہے، جب باہر مدینہ سے نکلے، حضرت معاویہؓ کے پاؤں جلنے لگے تو حضرت معاویہؓ کے پاؤں جلنے لگے تو حضرت معاویہؓ نے اس شہزادے سے کہا کہ اپنا جوتا مجھے دےدو یا اپنی سواری پر سوار کرلو۔ تو اس شہزادے نے کہا کہ تو کمی ہے، تو نوکر ہے، تو غلام ہے، میں شہزادہ ہوں، میں کمیوں کو اپنا جوتا کیسے دےدوں تو کمی اور نوکر ہے
    دوستو! حضرت معاویہؓ تو مکہ کے سردار ابوسفیانؓ کے لڑکے تھے، لیکن آج تو حکم پیغمبرؐ کا تھا، حضرت معاویہؓ خاموش ہوگئے اور چھ میل تک اس گھوڑ سوار شہزادے کیساتھ عرب کی دھوپ اور ریت میں امیر معاویہؓ بھاگتے رہے۔ چھ میل بعد اس کا پڑاو آیا۔ اس نے حضرت معاویہؓ کو سامان دیا، حضرت معاویہؓ سامان لے کر واپس آئے۔
    حضورؐ نے پوچھا معاویہؓ تم کیسے گئے اور کیسے آئے۔
    حضرت معاویہؓ نے سارا واقعہ بیان کیا۔ حضورؐ بڑے خوش ہوے کہ بغیر جوتے کے دھوپ میں گیا، تجھے اس نے کمی کہا تو تم واپس کیوں نہیں آئے۔ حضرت معاویہؐ نے فرمایا یا رسول اللّٰہؐ حکم آپؐ کا تھا، میرے تو پاؤں جلتے ہیں میرا جسم بھی جل جاتا تو معاویہ واپس نہیں آتا ، حضورؐ نے اس کے جواب میں فرمایا تھا کہ…..احلم_من_امتی_معاویہ….. میرے امت کا سب سے بڑے حوصلے والا معاویہ بن ابی سفیان ہے۔
    اگر بات صرف اتنی ہوتی تو میں شاید اس کا ذکر نہ کرتا۔ لیکن اس واقعے کے وقت حضرت معاویہؓ کی عمر 24 سال تھی پورے 34سال گزرجانے کے بعد جب حضرت معاویہؓ دمشق کے تخت پر خلیفہ بنےاور ساری دنیا کے نصف حصّےسے زیادہ پر حضرت معاویہؓ کو حکومت ملی اور تن تنہا دنیا میں اتنا بڑا اسلامی حکمران بنا۔ حضرت معاویہؓ کی فوجیں ملک غسان کو فتح کرنے گیئں، تین مہینے بعد فوج واپس آئ تو مبارک باد پیش کی گئی کہ امیرالمونین! غسان فتح ہوگیااور ہم چھ ہزار قیدی قید کرکے لائے ہیں (سپہ سالار نے کہا)۔ حضرت معاویہؓ کے دربار میں جب وہ چھ ہزار قیدی پیش کیے گئے۔ ان کے ہاتھ اور پاؤں رسیوں سے بندھے ہوئے تھے، حضرت معاویہؓ نے ان قیدیوں کو دیکھا تو سب سے آگے جو قیدی تھا وہی غسان کی ریاست کا شہزادہ تھا۔ جس شہزادہ نے معاویہؓ کو پہننے کیلئے جوتا نہیں دیا تھا اور حضرت معاویہؓ نے دیکھا کہ یہ وہی شہزادہ ہے پہچان لیا۔ حضرت معاویہؓ نے فرمایا! شہزادے کو میرے مہمان خانے میں لے جاؤ ۔ ایک مہینہ تک حضرت معاویہؓ اپنے مہمان خانے میں اس کی میزبانی کرتے رہے۔ اس نے نہیں پہچانا کہ یہ امیرالمومنین ہے ۔ یہ حضرت معاویہؓ وہی پیغمبرؐ کا غلام ہے جس کو میں نے کمی کہا تھا، اس نے نہیں پہچانا، جب ایک مہینہ بعد وہ جانے لگا تو معاویہؓ نے فرمایا کہ میں نے تیری وجہ سے سارے قیدیوں کو رہا کردیا اور تجھے بھی رہا کیا اب وہ رخصت ہوتا ہے دس ہزار درہم معاویہؓ نے اسے ہدیہ کے طور پر دیے تو وہ لوگوں سے پوچھتا ہے یہ کون ہے۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ یہ امیر معاویہؓ بن ابوسفیان ہے۔ سفیان کا لڑکا ہے، رسول اللّٰہؐ کا غلام ہے ، اب اس کے ذہن میں آیا کہ یہ تو وہی نوجوان ہے جس کو میں نے پہننے کیلیے جوتا نہیں دیا تھا اور میں نے اس کو کہا تھا کہ تو “کمی” ہے ، اب اس کی آنکھیں شرم سے جھک گئیں ، حضرت معاویہؓ کے پاس آکر کہنے لگا امیرالمونین! آپ وہی معاویہؓ ہے جو میرے ساتھ پیدل گئے تھے حضرت معاویہؓ نے فرمایا اے شہزادے! ہاں میں محمدؐ کا وہی کمی ہوں، میں محمدؐ کا وہی نوکر ہوں، اس نے کہا میں شرمندہ ہوں، حضرت معاویہؓ نے فرمایا میں نے تجھے پہلی مرتبہ ہی پہچان لیا تھا اور سب کچھ میں نے پہچاننے کے بعد کیا۔ تیرا اخلاق یہ تھا کہ تو نے مجھے جوتا نہ دیا، شاید تیرے مذہب نے تجھے یہ اخلاق سکھایا ہو اور میرا اخلاق یہ تھاکہ تو نے میرے ساتھ جو سلوک کیا میں نے وہ تجھے بتلایا بھی نہیں ، میں نے وہ تجھ سے پوچھا بھی نہیں، میں نے پہچان کر تیری رسیاں کھلوایئں ، میں نے پہچان کر تیرے ہاتھ کھلوائے اور پہچان کر تجھے مہمان بنایا، پہچان کر تجھے دس ہزار درہم دیئے، وہ زاروقطار رونے لگا اور کہنے لگا امیرالمونین! میں نے بڑے بڑے بادشاہوں کے دربار دیکھے تیرے سے زیادہ کوئی حوصلے والا نہیں دیکھا مجھے جلدی کلمہ پڑھا کر مسلمان کر دیجئے.
    اسی بات کوحضورؐ نے فرمایا تھا…..احلم_من_امتی_معاویہ….
    میری امت کا سب سے بڑا حوصلے والا معاویہ بن ابی سفیان ہے.

    Rajouri, May,06: To review the issues for effective border surveillance and Border management, District Magistrate Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting of the district level standing committee in his office chamber.

    The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Yougal Manhas, Deputy superintendent of police, CID SB and other representative members of committee.
    The meeting started with a brief of the issues by SSP Rajouri for the management of border,inter-district territorial posts issues, lack of coordination between the agencies, reporting the suspicious movement along the border, movement of Pok Visitors on visa permit, etc.
    Commandant BSF also flagged off the issues and sought intervention of District Administration in resolving them by taking civilian population on board.

    DDC asked the representatives of the committee to establish an effective reporting process to deal with the surveillance of the border and sharing of information with no lapse. About the delimitation of inter-district territorial conflicts, DDC asked the officers to submit a report in this matter where there are disputes, he will request for joint demarcation teams through the office of Divisional commissioner to resolve the inter-district territorial issues.
    DDC advised all the representatives who were present in the meeting to work in tandem and ensure there is no communication gap.

    So far infrastructural improvement of the border is concerned DDC apprised them that various projects are afoot in the border region like road connectivity, construction of Border bunkers, etc.

    Mr said that we are not against the checking by the police and other security forces but the location of checking point is not suitable as the place lack water supply, cafeteria which is a great headache for comman passengers and patients in Particular which travel towards SKIMS, SMH and Other Hospitals of Kashmir .Thousands of Vehicles remain stranded at Poshana top which is extremely sloppy and tough terrain and the checking spot should be shifted either to Chandimarh or Peer Ki Gali demanded.

    Mr Mir added that  Checking also takes place at DKG but not a single passenger has suffered till date and the Police deployed at Poshana is only concerned with Tata Mobiles and Trucks and not with the suffering of commuters majority of which are patients, students etc thus causing great inconvenience to travellers.

    Mr Mir appeal to Hon’ble Governor of the state Jammu and Kashmir ,DIG Rajouri Poonch Range and SSP Poonch to Please take necessary steps in the interest of comman people so that the harassment and public suffering stops at the earliest.
