ARTO seized 2 vehicles operating as ambulances without proper permission

RAJOURI DECEMBER 11:– In-Charge Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) here at Rajouri has seized a private ECHO Car bearing registration No.JK11D-8800 and a private ambulance both operating without proper permission/documents at Rajouri for the last few weeks.
Initially, the matter reportedly was brought to the notice of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri by Dr. Brij Mohan, Principal Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) Rajouri.
According to Shammi Kumar, ARTO, a written complaint was also received from the Principal GMC&AH and Deputy Commissioner also directed to take immediate action on this serious matter.
ARTO along with his team reached GMC&AH and tracked both the vehicles parked outside the boundary wall of the GMC&AH.
Both the vehicles have been seized by the ARTO and were sent to the Rajouri police station for further legal action.
One of the seized vehicles bearing the registration number of Punjab was found to be registered as an Ambulance in Punjab but has no proper permission from the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu to be operated at Rajouri.
“One vehicle bearing registration number in Punjab and is an ambulance in the records. But it has no necessary re-registration or No Objection Certificate (NOC) of the Directorate of Health Service, Jammu. The second is a private vehicle and it can’t be registered as an ambulance with the Directorate of Health Services as per laid down norms/rules” said Shammi Kumar, ARTO.
For registration as an ambulance, the vehicle should be associated with a private Nursing Home/hospital or clinic. No permission can be issued to a private vehicle to be operated as an ambulance.
