RAJOURI DEC 13:– In a bid to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri, Pawan Kumar Sharma, has launched an intensified campaign against violators across the district and on the Jammu-Poonch Highway. The initiative aims to curb reckless driving and enforce discipline among drivers, particularly those operating passenger vehicles.
On Friday, Sharma, accompanied by his team, set up a special checkpoint in the Muradpur area of the Jammu-Poonch Highway. During the operation, over 60 passenger vehicles were inspected. E-challans were issued to 21 vehicles, resulting in the collection of fines amounting to ₹75,000. Additionally, two vehicles were seized for serious violations.
Sharma emphasized that drivers must carry all necessary documents, ensure they are complete, wear proper uniforms, and strictly avoid overloading their vehicles. He warned that violations of traffic rules would not be tolerated, and offenders would face severe penalties, including vehicle seizure.
The ARTO further announced that similar checkpoints would be established daily on various routes, underscoring the administration’s commitment to improving road safety and ensuring compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act.
This proactive measure sends a clear message to drivers about the importance of road discipline, aiming to create a safer environment for commuters in the district.
