RAJOURI MARCH 24:–Alert troops of the Indian Army manning the Line of Control (LoC) in the Shahpur area in the Poonch sector on Friday foile d an attempt of narco-terror smuggling and recovered ten packets of narcotics under the area of operation of Doda Batallion.
It was another recovery of major drug consignment after the Army and district Poonch police ,On March 5 recovered currency notes amounting to Rs 2.3 crore, 15,000 US Dollars, and seven kilograms of narcotics from the house of one notorious drug smuggler namely Rafi Dhana & Rafi Lala who resides near LoC and was already detained under PSA.
“Indian Army foiled yet another attempt of narco-terror smuggling by recovering 10 packets of narcotics in the Doda battalion area near Line of Control in Poonch sector, J&K” said PRO Defence, Lt Col Devender Anand.
On Thursday DGP J&K, Dilbag Singh said that Pakistan is trying to smuggle drugs and ammunition into this side of the border.
Terming drug menace a big challenge after the militancy in J and K, DGP said that big consignments of drugs were seized by police and other agencies in the recent past.He said the border security grid is also tightened and some police posts are also raised in border areas.
