UDHAMPUR, JUNE-15:- A Week long campaign “ Ageing With Dignity” culminated today with senior citizen Mela and presenting momentous to elderly persons who excel in different activities held by DLSA.
DLSA Udhampur organized a medical checkup camp, Picnic, Painting and Slogan Writing Competition, walkthrough and light games, Sensitization Programme on Fostering Intergenerational Bonding and cultural and light music programme throughout the week.
In today’s culmination programme a senior citizen mela was held at Town Hall Udhampur in which Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ashok Kumar, CEO Municipality Santosh Kotwal, Professor Vishwa Raksha, Rekha Thakur Resource Persons, Deputy Chief Warden Swatenter Dev Kotwal, Retainer Lawyer Sanjit Kumar, Sanjay Kumar incharge District Sports Officer, Tilak Raj Sharma Social welfare officer were present on the occasion .
A scintillating colourful cultural performance was presented by renowned local folk artists Romalo Ram and party depicting rich folk lore, besides on theme Ageing with Dignity which was appreciated by the audiences.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DLSA, M.L Manhas said that elderly people are our roots that support us at the base ground and our existence is impossible without them. “We must learn the importance of respecting our elders and make time to listen them and spend quality time with them”, he added.
Secretary DLSA Sandeep Kour advised the students and youngsters to take care of their parents and elderly people rendering them all help and support so that they may live with dignity and honour. They also highlighted the legal provisions regarding maintenance of neglected parents. He lays stress upon the programmes for strengthening inter- generational bonds so that elderly people could live with dignity. Secretary DLSA also thanked district administration, senior citizens and all those who rendered their support in successful culmination of week long campaign Ageing with Dignity.
