RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 21:–Residents of Dhangri in Rajouri district on Tuesday postponed their hunger strike, scheduled for February 22, for about one month after SSP Rajouri along with Additional SP visited the Dhangri and interacted with members of victims’ families and other prominent villagers.
Earlier, the hunger strike was postponed till 22 February from February 20 due to religious rituals of seven persons killed in two terror attacks on January 1 & 2.
The members of victim’s families and the villagers while expressing their resentment over the failure of security agencies in tracing and killing the two terrorists responsible for the gruesome twin attacks in the village, they decided to go on hunger strike from February 5.

But, the hunger strike was postponed till February 20 as the residents of Dhangri & victim’s families were of the view that they don’t want to hamper the ongoing investigation by the NIA teams.
In Monday’s meeting, the villagers decided to go with their proposed hunger strike program from February 22 with intimation to district Civil/police authorities in writing.
But before their deputation could leave for Rajouri on Tuesday (to give in writing), SSP along with Additional SP and SHO Rajouri reached Dhangri village and held a meeting with the members of victims’ families, Sarpanch, Dheeraj Kumar, and other prominent citizens at the house of Saroj Bala, who have lost her two sons in the terrorist attack.
“SSP assured us that the investigation into the twin terror attacks is being conducted by the NIA.
Other prominent agencies also helping in tracing those involved in the terror attack. Hunger strike or any other action likely to hamper the ongoing investigation,” said Sarpanch Dheeraj Kumar.
“SSP has requested to postpone our proposed hunger strike program for one month. As he has assured sure success against the perpetrators of Dhangri attacks soon, so we postponed our hunger strike for one month,” Sarpanch added.
Saroj Bala, who lost her two sons, namely Deepak and Prince, decided to sit on an indefinite hunger strike along with family members of other deceased persons to express their resentment against the failure of security agencies in the killing of two terrorists involved in Dhangri attack and against no action against those helped these terrorists till date.
“As SSP has assured us about sure action against the killers of our seven people & who helped them, so we decided to postpone our hunger strike for one month on SSP’s request,” said Saroj Bala.
Five persons, including two brothers and a father-son duo, were killed in the firing on January 1 and two children died & ten others were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) left behind by the attackers went off on January 2 at about 10 am.
