RAJOURI, APRIL 17:–After an incident of drone recovery on April 12, the police and the army on Monday recovered a yellow colour pigeon reportedly with the name ‘Mehran Ahmed’ written on the bird.
Inhabitants of the area after noticing a yellow colour pigeon carrying a written message on it informed the police and the army.
The pigeon was caught by the police and brought to Sunderbani police station and started further investigation to find out whether the name written on the Pigeon is a coded message or if crossed the LoC accidentally.
Sources said that the residents of PoJK keep pigeons as a pet and flow pigeons on the joyous occasion of Eid and during other celebrations.
It is also a tradition in PoJK that the owners either write their names/mobile numbers on pigeons or put rings inscribed with their names/ mobile numbers on the birds.
Security agencies concerned have been working to decipher the ‘coded message’, if any.
After the recovery of the pigeon, SFs also searched the entire area, but nothing suspicious was recovered.
On April 12, a drone was recovered from Kangri area of Beri Pattan which was sent from PoJK along with a consignment of Rs 2 lakh Indian currency, 131 rounds, and 5 magazines of AK-47 rifle.
