Laders denounce National Conference’s dynastic politics and vow to bring transparency to Jammu and Kashmir elections.

SRINAGAR SEPT 08:–Senior BJP leaders Abhijeet Jasrotia and Altaf Thakur took sharp aim at the National Conference (NC) during a workers’ meeting in Nipore, Anantnag, as they campaigned for BJP candidate Rafiq Wani. In impassioned speeches, the BJP leaders accused the National Conference of perpetuating dynastic politics and failing to deliver on the promises made under Sheikh Abdullah’s leadership.

Jasrotia, in his address, raised questions about the legacy of Sheikh Abdullah, a prominent figure in Jammu and Kashmir’s political history. “What was the fault of the people for supporting Sheikh Sahib? He made promises, but the results of his leadership are visible to everyone,” Jasrotia said. He pointed out that Kashmir, once a major tourist destination, lost its charm and prosperity due to the policies implemented under Sheikh Abdullah. “The Valley was once a paradise for tourists, but those policies not only caused a decline in tourism but also set up a dynastic rule that has weakened the democratic fabric of our state.”

Jasrotia continued his critique by turning his attention to Omar Abdullah, the current leader of the National Conference and grandson of Sheikh Abdullah. He claimed that Omar Abdullah is seeking to carry on the dynastic tradition that began with his grandfather. “Omar Abdullah wants to continue the family rule, but this time we will not let him succeed,” Jasrotia declared, signaling the BJP’s intent to challenge the National Conference’s hold on power.

Altaf Thakur, another senior BJP leader, echoed these criticisms, focusing on the manipulation of elections in the past. He accused the National Conference of exploiting low voter turnout to maintain control. “In previous elections, only 5,500 loyal voters were enough to secure victory for the NC candidates. They manipulated the process and ruled with the support of a select few,” Thakur stated.

Thakur assured BJP workers that the party is committed to ensuring fair and transparent elections. He emphasized that under the BJP, the days of electoral manipulation and dynastic control would come to an end. “We will not allow dynastic politics to continue undermining the will of the people. The era of manipulating elections through a few loyalists is over,” he added with confidence.

The event in Nipore is part of the BJP’s broader campaign across Jammu and Kashmir, where the party aims to make significant electoral gains by challenging political dynasties and promoting development-focused governance. Both leaders urged BJP workers to rally support for Rafiq Wani, ensuring a strong turnout in the upcoming elections to defeat what they referred to as the “dynastic rule” of the National Conference.

With a clear focus on ending dynastic politics and promoting transparency, the BJP is positioning itself as a strong alternative in the region’s political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
