Residents Demand Immediate Restoration of Supply or Free Tanker Service.
JAMMU FEB 05:-Residents of Sunjwan, Jammu, took to the streets today under the leadership of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Safeer Choudhary, protesting against the Jal Shakti Department over a prolonged water crisis. The demonstration, held at the Meta Door Stand Sunjwan Jammu, was fueled by growing frustration over 55 days of disrupted water supply, forcing locals to rely on costly private tankers.
Chanting slogans and holding placards, protesters accused the department of negligence and failure to address their grievances. Many highlighted the severe impact of the crisis on daily life, particularly in the prevailing harsh weather conditions.
Speaking at the protest rally Choudhary slammed the authorities for their inaction, emphasizing that access to clean water is a fundamental right.
“For nearly two months, residents have been left without a drop of water. Families are being forced to pay exorbitant prices for tankers, while those who can’t afford them are struggling to meet basic needs. The government must take responsibility and act immediately,” he said.
Locals are demanding an urgent resolution to the crisis, including the immediate restoration of regular water supply and free tanker services until the issue permanently fixed. Despite multiple complaints, residents claim the Jal Shakti Department has failed to provide any concrete solutions.
Protesters warned that if the authorities continue to ignore their plight, they will escalate their agitation in the coming days.
Residents now await swift action, hoping for relief from the prolonged hardship that has disrupted their lives.
