Poonch June 13:–Achieving yet another success on its Anti Drugs front, Jammu and Kashmir police in Poonch arrested a notorious narcotics smuggler in district’s Mendhar area recovering a big consignment of Charas like substance from his possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr. Vinod Kumar said that a joint team of Police and Army was on routine naka checking in order to strengthen security grid when a man moving towards naka party tried to escape from the spot by suddenly changing his walking direction and his act developed suspicion among personnel on naka duty.
” At a time when he was trying to escape from the spot, the naka personnel managed to intercept him and he was put to frisking when 61 packets were recovered from his possession which contained 950 grams of Charas like substance which accused was trying to smuggle.” said SSP Dr. Vinod Kumar.
He added, ” The accused identified as Mohammad Alias son of Shoket Hussain resident of Ari Mendhar has been arrested with consignment recovered has been seized with a case in FIR 233/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.”
SSP Poonch Dr. Vinod Kumar further said that a team of police is investigating the case to unearth all the forward and backward linkages of the accused with source of consignment also.
He said that Poonch police is working hard on Anti Narcotics front and arrest of a number of notorious peddlers in recent weeks and recovery of consignment from them and this action has also been appreciated by officers from higher level.
SSP Poonch further said that narcotics and drugs peddling as well as addiction is a social evil which is one of the biggest risk for society and future generations for which every section of society and every individual has to play role.
Meanwhile, people of the area widely hailed police action in this aspect and another arrest of a notorious narcotics peddler.
