SHOPIAN MAY 15:–District Magistrate Shopian Sachin Kumar Vaishya applauded the people of Shopian for strictly adhering to the COVID-19 especially during on the occasions of Jumma-tul-Wida, Shab-e-Qadar and Eid-ul-Fitar and observing corona curfew in letter and spirit. This covid appropriate behaviour of the public has helped greatly in containing spread of the virus and number of daily positive cases has stabilised and a downfall in number of cases is now expected in coming days. But we shouldn’t at any cost lower the guard and we should continue our fight against this deadly virus by religiously following all SOPs.
He emphasised that people shouldn’t pay heed to rumours and they can contact control rooms established at district, sub-district and tehsil level for any clarification or assistance. He said, “We have sufficient number of oxygen supported beds and manpower available. There is no need to panic as situation is well under control”. He also appealed public to keep an eye on home isolated positive cases and if they roam outside they should be properly counselled or the matter be brought in notice of concerned tehsildars.
Regarding vaccination he appealed that any person in age group of 45 years or above who hasn’t received the first dose to visit the nearest health facility for vaccination and those who have received first dose should go for second dose as well.
Giving details about the number of positive cases in the district he said there are 1237 active positive cases out of which 1179 are under home isolation & 31 at DH Shopian. Recovery rate in the district is 75 %.
