Panchayat Level Covid Management Committees to help health workers in tracing,testing contacts & vaccination.

Rajouri May 06 :--District Magistrate Rajouri has directed to constitute Panchyat Level Covid Management Committees (PLCMCs) to help the health employees/workers to trace, track and test the contacts because, according to the complaints, the people are not cooperating with the health department teams.
Rajouri district has witnessed today the largest-ever single-day surge in Covid positive cases, i.e 232, and the main reasons behind the surge include people hiding symptoms with impunity to avoid institutional quarantine/isolation, non-awareness about the pandemic, religious issues, contacts of active cases not cooperating for testing, etc.
During the last 6 days, 981 persons were tested positive, 15 died due to the Corona pandemic, and only 16 recovered.
As the Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH facing a huge rush of Covid patients (90 under treatment) and the staff, including doctors getting infected, the Principal has suspended all the OPD services till further order however, emergency services shall continue.
At present, there are 1791 positive cases in the district out of which 1652 are in home isolation, 116 in hospital isolation (including in CCCs & 23 are isolated in BSF/Arm isolation centers.
On the other hand, health teams facing problems in collecting samples of the contacts of already declared active cases and in the containment zones as the people lock their doors from inside especially in rural areas.
It was noticed in Kandi Health Block that most of the people lock their doors from inside when the health teams visit the villages, especially in containment zones.
These health teams facing problems in collecting the samples of the contacts and the Block Medical Officer, Kandi has appealed to District Administration/Kotranka Sub-District administration to intervene in this matter.
“This act of people will affect the 100% screening of the containment Zones and may pose a risk of infection and surge in Covid pandemic cases in the near future due to undetected cases. The District Administration must take appropriate action in this matter” said Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO.
Reportedly acting swiftly, District Magistrate, Rajesh Shavan has directed to constitute Panchyat Level Covid Management Committees (PLCMCs) to tackle such situations.
The committee will be headed by the concerned Sarpanch and all the Panches, all the teachers of the schools/ ASHAs/Anganwadi workers/Agriculture department employees/VLW/ GRS (posted in the Panchyat) and Numberdar /chokidar shall be the members.
Members of the PLCMCs have been directed to attend Panchyats on a daily basis and the Sarpanch will maintain an attendance register and will constitute ‘ward wise’ teams to ensure 100% Covid contact tracing/testing and management monitoring.
Ward wise teams were directed to ensure that every person gets registered for SEHAT and vaccination for all the eligible persons.
The teams were asked to remain in touch with health officials for all kinds of management.
