Vaccination for avobe 18 years age likely to begin after May 15 ;Three more Covid deaths today.

Rajouri May 01:--According to official reports 98 new positive cases have been reported today in the Rajouri district, while three more persons died two at GMC Rajouri & one in a hospital at Katra.
The number of active cases has reached 981(out of which three died) while the death toll has risen to 69.
Out of 4973 active cases in the district 3926 were tested negative, including 7 today, and have recovered.
As per reports 59 (two died in the evening today) Covid-19 patients are under treatment in the isolation ward of the Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) and among them 54 are on oxygen support.
The condition of few patients was said to be serious. The saturation level of most of the patients is below 80 percent.
The oxygen saturation in the blood should stay around 95 to 100 percent. However, if it falls below 90, then it is known as ‘hypoxemia’.
The heart and brain may stop functioning properly if the saturation level is below 80 which could lead to failure of respiratory organs or cardiac arrest.
After a large number of positive cases coming on a daily basis in the district, health department under the supervision of Dr. Shamim-un-Nisa, CMO has been doing aggressive tracking, tracing, and testing of the contacts of already positive cases.
Meanwhile, the vaccination planned by the government for the 18-45 age group could not be started in Rajouri district today as per schedule announced earlier.
“The vaccination session for 18-45 age group couldn’t be started due to some technical problem. The vaccination will start immediately after directions from the higher authorities” said CMO She denied shortage of vaccination and said: “We have sufficient stock of vaccine and RT-PCR kits and trained staff to deal with an exigency”.
Another senior health official said that the vaccination for above 18 years of age likely to be started after May 18.
He advised the all the Block Medical Officers (BMOs) of the district to achieve the target of vaccination set for the age group above 45 years before May 18.
Till Saturday, 45% of the population above 45 years could be vaccinated, as per sources.
To achieve the target, the official has asked the BMOs to use sessions sites (fixed at 46 centers) temporarily at Sub-Centers & Wellness Centers to cover the people who are left without the vaccination
