Rajouri,April 25:–In a major success against illicit liquor mafia active in Dhangri Saranoo area of Rajouri, police smashed three working stills, destroying 600 litres of Lahaan and recovering more than 37 litres of illicit liquor.
Police said that a specific information was received that some people in Dhangri Saranoo area are running working stills and were indulged in manufacturing of illicit liquor and selling the same among people.
Taking note of it, special teams of police from Rajouri police station headed by SHO Rajouri – Insp Sameer Jillani – were constituted and consecutive raids were conducted in Dhangri Saranoo area at three different places.
During these raids police said that three working stills were found and smashed, while Lahaan was destroyed on the spot and illicit liquor was seized.
Police added that in a raid in Dhangri area, 440 liters of Lahaan was destroyed while one LPG cylinder, one working still and one burner was seized from the possession of Chander Parkash son of Jagdish Raj resident of Dhangri.
Police further said that in another raid conducted at Saranoo, 160 litres of Lahaan were destroyed while 9.5 litres of illicit liquor was seized besides a working still and allied material from the possession of accused Subash Chander son of Jagan Nath resident of Saranoo.
The third raid was also conducted in Saranoo village, police said, adding that one Rajinder Kumar son of Jagdish Raj resident of Dhangri was found running a working still which was smashed and 28 litres of illicit liquor was seized from the spot.
Police said that three separate cases in FIR numbers 183, 184 and 185 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Rajouri and further investigation and further legal proceedings are going on.
