Rajouri, jan.28: Intensifying the drive to check food adulteration and other violations in the district , various team of Legal Metrology, Food Safety, and Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department,tehsildars,officers of municipality,health department and police jointly conducted market checking in sunder bani, Nowshera and Rajouri,khwas,thanamndi,manjakote, Darhal,,qiladarhal and teryath today booked erring traders here in the district Rajouri and realized a fine of 17000 from erring traders.
The team constituted on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, inspected various food establishments including shops of sweets, provisional stores, fruits shops, bakery, and fast food around here in all the tehsil of the district.
During the drive, erring shopkeepers were challaned under different sections some of them were processing, cooking and storing the sweets, milk and milk products under unsanitary and unhygienic conditions. The cases were compounded on spot and a fine of Rs 6300 was realized from the defaulter traders in thanamandi, in the same way
RS 600 was realized from erring traders in darhal, RS 2400 from erring traders of manjakote, RS 500 from nowshera, RS 2800 from sunderbani, RS 4400 from erring traders of khawas and 8200 from erring traders of rajouri. The team has also destroyed 12 kg of polythene 70 kg of stale fruits and vegetables.
The Shopkeepers were directed to prominently display rate lists, keep shop neat and clean and ensure that all package commodities sold to the consumers must bear MRP, Package date, Net Content, complete address, and consumer care number and avoid selling of stale fruits and vegetables to the consumers.
Meanwhile ,the teams also inspected 11 petrol pumps in the district.They also checked the measuring cylinders and other equipment used at petrol pumps.They we’re instructed to install drinking water facilities and toilet facilities,where it was lacking.
Regarding the market inspections, a spokesperson of district administration said that such drives will be conducted on a routine basis so that the quality of commodities is ensured.
